🍯 From the hive to your table! 🐝

Ezra has been hard at work cutting and packaging one of our favorite products… raw comb honey! We love getting the kids involved in the family business, and this is one of the sweetest jobs there is. ❤️

If you’ve never tried comb honey, you’re missing out! It’s honey exactly as the bees made it—fresh from the hive, with nothing added and nothing taken away.

✨ Did you know the entire comb is edible? That’s right! The honey, the beeswax, and all. The wax is completely safe to eat (many people chew it like gum), or you can simply enjoy the honey and discard the wax if you prefer.

Here are a few delicious ways to enjoy comb honey:
🍞 Spread it on warm toast or biscuits
🧀 Pair it with cheese and crackers on a charcuterie board
🥣 Add it to yogurt or oatmeal
🍨 Top vanilla ice cream
🥞 Serve it with pancakes or waffles

Market is cancelled tonight!

🚨 Important Dixon City Market Update! ☔ Due to the forecast for rain and the chance of inclement weather, Dixon City Market is canceled for Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The biggest priority is making sure the kids participating in Dixon City Market Jr. get the great experience they've worked so hard for – not one spent in the rain. ❤️

The good news? Dixon City Market Jr. has been moved to Thursday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. and will take place at a new location on Lincoln Statue Drive near the Band Shell, just before the final Dixon Municipal Band concert of the season. 🎼

Come support these amazing young entrepreneurs!

The City of Dixon Illinois Government and Dixon Park District will also be providing Golf Cart Tours of Petunia Crossing and the new Page Park trails during this time.

Come spend a beautiful summer evening in Dixon! 🎶

Please note that a few Jr. Market vendors who are unable to attend Thursday will instead join a future Dixon City Market pop-up on Aug. 26 or Sept. 16.

Sometimes I wonder if my bees are thinking about me too. 🐝

I spend a lot of time watching them, checking on them, and making sure they have what they need. I’d like to think they recognize the person who shows up every day to care for them… even if it’s just as “the giant who opens the hive.” 😂

Beekeeping has a way of making you appreciate the little things. These tiny girls work so hard, and I’m lucky I get a front-row seat.

This is one of our hives, where thousands of honey bees are busy bringing in nectar and turning it into the delicious honey you love. Summer is their busiest season, and every drop is the result of countless trips from flower to flower.

Right now, the hives are filling up beautifully, and we’re excited to have fresh, local honey available at the market!
