What a Wisconsin State Fair Junior Show for the Wildcat crew!

We couldn’t be more proud of the boys, our team and the cattle they brought to the ring. The backdrops are back, but some of our favorite wins from the week had nothing to do with banners.

At Wisconsin State Fair, fitting is limited to family and junior exhibitors, and watching Brady, Nick, Lauren and BJ work together to get the cattle ready was pretty special. Raynie and Ryan jumped in to lend a hand, too, and made a great addition to the crew.

Brady and Nick have also worked hard on their showmanship all summer, and it was great to see that work rewarded with both finishing in the Top 5 in their age divisions.

And the cattle had a pretty good week, too!

None of this happens without the work put in long before we arrive at the fair. We are incredibly fortunate to have Lauren managing the cattle every day, along with Brooke, Riley, Brady and Nick. Hard work makes it happen.

A big thank you to May Cattle Co. for their guidance and for always helping us get the cattle looking their best, and to Evan Espenscheid for always being willing to jump in when we need him. He’ll always be part of the Wildcat team.

This year presented a few extra challenges for us to be away, and we’re especially grateful to the Center Hill Vet Clinic team and our customers for stepping up and allowing us to continue chasing these dreams.

Finally, our hearts are with the family and friends of fellow State Fair exhibitor Adam Massman. His tragic passing is a reminder that these fairs, shows and banners mean so much because of the people and memories that surround them. Hug your kids a little tighter and cherish the time together.

We’re leaving the 2026 Wisconsin State Fair proud, grateful and already looking forward to the next one.

What a week at the Wisconsin State Fair!

The icing on the cake came today at the Open Show, where Wildcat Cattle Company bred BOTH the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Heifers! We couldn’t be more proud of the cattle, the kids, and the families behind them.

Congratulations to the Jones kids on exhibiting the Grand Champion Female, Wildcat Lavender 6003 ET! This Brandston daughter, out of Lady Luck, has had a lot of fans throughout the week. We’re excited to announce that Lavender will be a featured lot at the Badger Southern Select Sale on October 4!

Congratulations as well to the Oleson family on exhibiting the Reserve Champion Hereford Heifer, Wildcat Versace 5068 ET! Versace is sired by Red River and out of Perseverance 805 “Percy.” She was Ryan Oleson’s choice from the Badger Sale last fall, and it’s especially rewarding to see a heifer purchased from us come back and have this kind of success.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Wildcat Cattle Company and our family throughout an incredible week. We’re grateful for the cattle, the competition, the friendships, and all the people who make this business so much fun.

As we count down to the Badger Southern Select Sale on October 4, we want to share some of the families who have become part of the Wildcat story. Every family has a different journey, but they all remind us why we love this business.

More Than a Sale... A Partnership.

Karley Shivers of Iowa has been showing Hereford cattle for the past five years, and from the very beginning she had one goal: someday she wanted to raise and show one of her own.

In 2024, Karley and her family selected a Wildcat female as the foundation for that dream. Since then, we've enjoyed working with them, sharing ideas on breeding, feeding and management while watching Karley's passion for the Hereford breed continue to grow.

This week at the Polk County Fair, that dream became a reality.

Those banners represent far more than success in the show ring. They represent a young exhibitor with a dream, a family willing to put in the work, and the satisfaction that comes from raising one of your own.

Watching Karley achieve a goal she's worked toward for years has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing juniors experience success with cattle they've bred and raised themselves is what this business is all about.

Congratulations, Karley! We're proud to have been a small part of your journey, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

With sale season quickly approaching, Wildcat Cattle Company is looking to add to our team this fall!

We're looking for dependable, hard-working, detail-oriented individuals to help prepare for our annual October sale.

Responsibilities include sale calf preparation, show cattle management, and general farm duties. Experience is a major plus, but a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a team player personality is even more important.

Flexible part-time hours are available. For the right person, a larger role or full-time opportunity may also be available in the future. If you're interested, send us a message to request more information.

Another Junior National Hereford Expo is in the books! JNHE was in our home state of Wisconsin, and we are always proud to host it in Madison. We’re leaving the week proud of our cattle, our kids, and the memories made throughout the week.

BK Mirror Points 4045M ET was named Reserve Division VII Champion. Bred by Buck Cattle Company and sold by May Cattle Company, we're incredibly excited about what this full sister to Red River will do for our program in the years ahead.

Our steer, Doug topped his class. This High Roller son was bred by Full Day Enterprises and sold by May, Lemmon, Butler, and Widerman.

PSC NCC Sheridan 5008 ET looked outstanding all week, finishing 2nd in a very competitive class and division. Bred by Norvell and sold by Perry Cattle Company and May Cattle Company.

Beyond the backdrop, we're even more proud of what the boys accomplished throughout the week. Brady and Nick both qualified for the Intermediate Showmanship Finals, placing among the Top 24 out of more than 200 exhibitors. Watching their confidence, work ethic, and showmanship skills grow has been incredibly rewarding.

Outside the ring, they also represented well. Brady was elected to serve as a voting delegate for Wisconsin and competed in the Future Professionals Contest. Nick participated in the CHB Cooking Contest and the Judging Contest, and both represented Wisconsin in the State Group of Five.

A huge thank you goes to May Cattle Company for not only providing us with outstanding genetics but also for the mentorship, guidance, and friendship they continue to offer our family. Thank you as well to every breeder represented in our show string for raising some good ones and being there for support.

To our customers who exhibited Wildcat cattle this week—thank you for believing in our program. It was rewarding to watch your hard work pay off and to see each of you grow both in and out of the show ring.

None of this happens without an incredible team behind the scenes. Thank you to Kade, Case, Drake, Ethan, and Jimmy having the cattle looking their absolute best as they entered the ring. A special shoutout to Brooke Davis for everything you've done this summer. You're one of the hardest workers around, and your help (along with keeping Lauren from strangling her brothers) certainly doesn't go unnoticed!

Finally, thank you to Mom and Dad for continuing to believe in our dreams and providing every opportunity for us to chase them. We wouldn't be here without your endless support.

It's been a long summer, and we're not slowing down yet. Next stop: Wisconsin State Fair, followed by getting sale calves ready for the Badger Southern Select Sale October 4.

Happy 4th of July and 250th Anniversary to the USA!

Our Wildcat team is busy getting ready for Hereford, Junior nationals in Madison, Wisconsin! Proud to be citizens of this great country and free to do what we love!

We can’t wait to connect with old friends and new! It has been a great week so far and we can’t wait for another great junior national from Team Hereford
