Hello everyone. Despite a slow start to the season with a few late freezes in the spring, the hops are coming along. Along with some changes to the treatment regime for downy mildew (there is very little this year), the hops are finally looking the best they have in years.

Two Akers IPA is back on tap! What started as our locally hopped brew, this Chinook hop based beer is so popular we brew it year round with hops from around the country. When Fall returns, our local hops are back in the brew. And if you missed them this weekend, Dizzy Cow Pizzeria is here today for dinner service.
Cheers!

Do cows enjoy hops? The answer is yes!

An update on our total harvest from this past weekend: 18.5 pounds of Chinook hops. Not bad at all. Stay tuned on where they will go to be part of a beer sometime soon. 👀

Grazed the cattle in between rows today to help with the weeds. Must keep a close watch with them but it was effective. Everything is looking great!

The hops are loving this sunny day after a few days of rain.

Glad we were able to get the strings up last week because the hops are a growin' this week.

Dry hopped Two Akers IPA is ready for your consumption @ Independent Brewing in Bel Air.

Its back by popular demand, Two Akers IPA. First brewed a little over one year ago, it was our first brew featuring locally grown hops. Finished with Chinook hops from Dan and Laura Aker, this hop forward IPA has notes of grapefruit and pine giving it a refreshing and smooth finish.
Crossroads Bistro is here all day for lunch and dinner, their special today, Pretzel Bites with Beer Cheese made with Knuckehead Porter!
Cheers

Eight pounds of chinook hops ready for the dry hop of Two Akers IPA! Look for it soon at Independent Brewing!

08/09/2016

Hops on hops. 4.75 pounds (dry) and counting...still have 12 more plants to harvest. These Chinooks are beastly and coated my hand with a thick layer of lupulin as I packed them.

08/03/2016

The chinooks are ready to pick. The two newly planted rows (far right) of Chinook have done well this year. Can't wait to see the yield once they mature.
