Here's a look at a promising 4-month-old Red Angus bull calf out of a first-calf heifer. We're very happy with the growth, thickness, and overall performance so far. It's always rewarding to see young cows raise calves like this!

The kids went for a walk with their 4H steers and then we let them graze in the hayfield for a while.

Went to the creek with Samantha - our 8 yr old - this morning so she could practice with my DSLR camera. There were a lot of blurry pictures, and a few sharp ones where the cow or calf had moved out of the frame or was standing funny because she took too long. And then she caught this gem! 😍 We might have to enter that one into the Red Angus magazine photo contest!

So last week we had a customer buy a really nice bull — Lot 5 — and he mentioned they'd used AI to compare our bulls against several Red Angus breeders across the PNW. I thought that was brilliant as computers can compare much faster and with less bias. Turns out AI really, really likes us 😆 not sure if that's a good thing or not! 😳

Either way, thank you for the great compliment — to AI, and to the customer who was so happy to take their bull home. We loved meeting you, and we're confident Lot 5 is going to perform great for you! ☺️

Show steers are looking good. This is just for our local county fair. The best bull calves get to keep their family jewels, so slim pickings for the kids lol. Might try to AI some of our commercial cows to a feedlot bull one of these days though.
