Farm update: now that everything is planted for the most part, we switch gears here to the next phase of the season - the tending. This is the part that gets away from you and is catastrophic if it does. Weeding, fertilizing, watering, animal control - all the things. Today we took the rainy day to do some major work in the high tunnels. We added sunshade over the blackberries and raspberries because the sun can scald the berries. In one of the others we worked on stringing tomato and cucumber plants. This week every tomato plant and cucumber plant will be strung so they can grow vertically. It’s tedious and time consuming but in the end it makes a difference.
