A busy day around the homestead today, peeled and cored 12 lbs of apples for homemade applesauce.🍎🍏
One thing we don't do around here is waste... so all those peels and cores got used today to make apple jelly (otherwise I'll usually make apple cider vinegar).
The chickens enjoyed all our final scraps after wrapping up the jelly and homemade applesauce with dinner!
Then we rounded out the day giving our Jethro the memorial he deserves still watching over his flock for eternity💔

We will have fresh half pints of apple jelly and pints of no added sugar, cinnamon applesauce out in the farmstand in the morning!

Today, our little homestead feels a bit quieter.
A gentle stillness has settled in the coop,
where crowing once greeted the morning light.

We said goodbye to our best boy—
our OG, our steady guardian,
our very first rooster, Jethro.

He left us with the sunrise,
his old heart finally at rest.
He lived a good, full life—
watchful over his girls,
gentle with the babies,
kind in a way only animals can be.

He was part of the beginning—
one of the first five
that planted the seed of this dream,
that led us here,
to this life we now hold so close.

And though the coop feels emptier today,
his presence lingers
in every feathered rustle,
every golden morning,
every step of this journey he helped start.

Grateful for the time,
for the lessons,
for the love.
Run free, sweet Jethro.
You’ll always have a place here—
right at the heart of our farm.

There’s something about a "new beginning" that humbles you in the most beautiful way.

🌦 In the simplest form, Spring can be our natural reminder of that. 🌱🪻

Wild Root Farms was never about a farmstand. It's been a journey of trial and error, of plans that didn’t quite go the way we thought they would, and moments where we had to pause, pivot, and begin again. More than once, we’ve stood in the middle of something unfinished, wondering if we were getting it right at all.

But the truth is… growth rarely happens in straight lines.

Just like the land we tend, life has seasons. There are times of planting, times of waiting, and times where it feels like everything is being stripped back to its roots. And yet, beneath the surface, something is always working. Something is always becoming.

Building this farmstand reminded us that, what feels like a setback is often a redirection.
That, delays carry purpose. That the vision you start with, isn’t always the one you end with—and that’s where the magic lives.✨️

Because somehow, piece by piece, it all comes together. Stronger.
More meaningful.
More beautiful than we could have ever planned for or imagined.

What we’re creating here isn’t just a place to gather fresh eggs, herbs, and handmade goods—it’s a reflection of resilience, faith, and the quiet belief that everything unfolds exactly as it’s meant to, in perfect time.

The process of making fresh Jalapeño Cheddar bread 🤤
I wanted some TODAY, so not sourdough but active yeast and going to be DELICIOUS.
Worth all the hours of waiting... just one more before we cut in for some bacon grilled cheeses. 🧀 🌶
I swear the waiting for cool down is the HARDEST part of bread making 😭😅
