Harvest Round #2: Elizabeth! We will probably have to harvest 3 days in a row to get this all off the field 🥵 Good thing there’s not a heat wave or anything 😉 But! We’ve gotten a little smarter and now have a pop up tent over us while harvesting so it’s not so bad.

Where are all the butterflies??? 🦋

Story time! So here at the lavender farm we have a variety of insect that are here because lavender just naturally attracts them. One of them being butterflies.🦋 Lavender is a known butterfly attractor but yet we only see just a handful whenever we are outside? There should be more right?
So last night my husband and I were sitting outside in the backyard while the kids were chasing a butterfly. We then also noticed this bird flying in a bizarre path on a lower part of the tree. 🌳 We initially noticed it because it was an amazing super bright yellow covered bird and we haven’t seen this kind before here on the farm.
We looked for a while and then realized it was chasing a butterfly to eat.
Then that got us thinking….💭 and finally put two and two together! We have soooooo many birds here (mostly sparrows). And when we say many, we mean MANY. 🐦 So…. 1 Forrest 🌳 + soooo many birds 🐦 = less butterflies🦋

Not sure why that took so long to figure out after all these years 🤣
