Last call! Have you considered running for our Board of Directors? The nomination deadline is Monday, August 24.

Gem City Market started with a simple idea: our neighborhood deserves good, affordable food. As a small, community-owned grocer, we’re competing with corporate grocers with much bigger budgets and ever-increasing food costs.

Still, we believe in the power of the people in this community and the strength of being owned by the many, not the few. We believe we can build a successful business while putting people first and giving back to our neighbors.

Our Fresh Flyer comes out twice a month, highlighting some of the best deals throughout the store.

We are open daily from 8am–8pm at 324 Salem Avenue in West Dayton. Everyone is welcome to shop with us, no membership required. We are proud to be Dayton’s only community-owned neighborhood grocery store. EBT is gladly accepted.

We’re transitioning to a new page due to technical issues and won't be using it going forward. This is where you will find our latest updates, events, and sales.

Home is where your food is. 💚 A community is stronger when there is access to good, affordable food. This store exists because neighbors came together to build a place to shop, connect, and invest in something we all share.

Love our Co-op? We’re currently looking for new folks to run for our Board of Directors! As an owner, you have a voice in our future. Serving on the board is a great way to learn, grow as a leader, work alongside our community here in Dayton, and help guide the co-op for years to come.

We’re open every day from 8am–8pm, and everyone is welcome to shop here!

As a community-owned store, we often get asked: “Do I have to be an owner to shop here?” The answer is no! Anyone can shop and anyone can become an owner.

Interested in ownership? What makes a co-op different is that ownership gives our community a voice. Instead of decisions being made by a distant corporation, we are guided by the people who live here, shop here, and care about this community.

Built by the community. Led by the community. 💪 Board nominations for the Gem City Market Board of Directors are now open!

When Gem City Market opened, our mission was clear: build a store by the people, for the people. We wanted to create a space that expands food access, strengthens food sovereignty, and puts people over profit by keeping ownership and decision-making in the hands of those it serves.

As a co-op, we're owned by the many, not the few. Here, there is no single person calling all the shots. We are led by the people we serve, guided by our neighbors, and built on the belief that those who invest in this store should have a voice in its future.

Now we're looking for leaders who want to help guide what's next. If you believe in this mission, consider running for the Board of Directors.
