As a w**emaker, each vintage fills me with the wonder of this craft like brand new. As a father, nothing fills me with more pride than sharing this excitement with my son. This is an incredible season, the month in which you were born, and we are so lucky to have this moment.

We are grateful and pleased to share the results received by our new Croaking Toad Riesling! The recipient of 91 points from W**e Enthusiast, Croaking Toad is a medium-sweet Riesling farmed from the Trisaetum Estate Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. It is a delightful, playful w**e that shows exuberance and balance. The description written Michael Alberty fits the w**e perfectly and we are always so happy to read his words relating to our w**es.

We love making w**es in this style. Although we focus predominantly on crisp, dry w**es, it is with glee that we pursue a few off-dry and medium-sweet styles each year. They require certain finesse and planning, as the sweetness in these w**es is residual sugar from the grapes themselves, achieved by halting the fermentation. This requires foresight and tact, as stopping a fermentation is like stopping a moving train! By use of cold October nighttime temperatures we slow it down gradually until we feel the acidity and sugar are in sync.

For many, a w**e like this is for a certain occasion or the pairing with spicy or sweet dishes. For some folks with a sweet tooth on the other hand this is a daily table w**e! It has the satiating quality of lemonade on a hot day and is available now, in the w**e bar. Swing by and try some soon!

It’s pretty surreal to see our name on a blue sign. When we moved here more than a decade ago we would ramble around w**e country using these signs to determine our next adventure. It was an iconic concept that we revered. As we built Satyr Fire in the early days it seemed unrealistic that we would ever come to this point, but we’re overjoyed to be proven wrong.

We can’t express how much joy this simple thing brings us.

Varnum Vintners has teamed up with Alumbra Cellars , Satyr Fire W**es, Namaste Vineyards and Lemon and Olive Catering to bring you the 2026 Summer of Riesling Event of the year. Join us Saturday, August 8th, 2026, 11am-2pm.

We are kicking off the Summer of Riesling with premier access to new 2025 single-vineyard Varnum Rieslings, 2025 Sparkling Riesling and a selection of library Rieslings. We’ve invited Alumbra Cellars, Namaste Vineyards and Satyr Fire W**es to pour their Rieslings and share their love of w**emaking with you. Taste the w**emakers touch by sipping them side by side.

The Overseer is a radiant 2023 Riesling that is unfolding with new aromas of honeycomb and white flower in these past months, which is why we are so excited for you to taste it. It has notes of nectarine, a bite of orange peel with a mature, pithy finish. This delightful w**e has mouth watering acidity that will bring you towards the spirit of the heron on a crisp clear morning by the water.
