Serenity Valley Farm Located just west of Dayton, Ohio, SVF is a new equestrian education facility.

SVF's goal is to become a top notch Equestrian Education facility with plans to host a variety of schooling shows and clinics throughout the year, as well as be able to offer a training facility for both a limited number of boarders as well as haul in clientele. While our passions run towards the english disciplines of dressage and eventing, we hope equestrians of all disciplines can find the educational opportunities they need at SVF in the future.

Wow! That was a crazy 2 weeks -- our biggest dressage show this year followed by the rescheduled CT/Event Derby! My absolute biggest thank you to everyone who helped... with either show!! I would do shout outs but I know I will miss someone and do not want to do that, so suffice it to say, if you think this even remotely applies to you... IT DOES!! Thank you!!!

Congrats to all our riders in both shows!! If you have ribbons that you would like to pick up (or we can bring to the DLSC or MVEA banquets) let me know soon.

Scores are being reported to DLSC and MVEA respectively. We wish all our member competitors the best of luck in the final year end awards programs of both organizations! If you have any questions on that front... I maintain the point calculations for both, so feel free to reach out. The MVEA season is complete... the DLSC dressage season is complete, with one more hunter show (Sunnybrook later this month!!! )

Seriously... I know for a LOT of people this was a rough season. Between injuries, heat, monsoons and mud, plus economic realities of the sport... THANK YOU for continuing to support Serenity Valley Farm and DLSC/MVEA. We hope you're enjoying this amazing fall weather and wish you all the best for the off season. See everyone at the award banquets and (more importantly) next season!!

I know it's late. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Reminder that the parking field will be open by 730.

I'll have this info at the secretary table and ringside for jumping. The starter and grasshopper derby courses have some options, and want to make sure riders understand the options. If you have any questions, please ask.

Due to a change and an oops, here is an update to the Ride Times for Saturday. Not much else has changed as far as how we're running the show. As always, please let me know asap if you have questions or issues. Thanks!

Saturday Details & Ride Times

First -- Thank you for supporting our CT/Derby show! Remember, MVEA Year End points apply! Please ask if you have any questions.

Second, ride times are attached. Let me know asap if there is an issue. Course maps will be posted by end of day Thursday.

And finally... details:
1. Show starts at 9am. We should be finished by 12:30.
2. Because of the lack of dual-level entries, we are running top down (it's easier on course changes).
3. Parking field should be open by 7:30. Courses will be set by Friday so feel free to come over Friday afternoon/evening if you want to walk them.
4. Dressage will be in the small fenced arena... warm up in the front field.
5. Jumping in the arena and surrounding fields... warm up in the pasture behind the house.
6. Because this is a small show, drinks and snacks will be available but no lunch is planned.
7. No dogs please. Let me know asap if you have a true, honest-to-goodness service dog and we will make arrangements.
8. Schooling will be available after the show for a fee. Please let me know if you plan to school.
9. I do have TIP ribbons and prizes. Right now, I only *know* of one horse that is TIP registered so please let me know asap so we can include you in the mix.
10. Dressage tests:
* Training CT = Training B
* BN Derby = BN B
* BN CT = BN A
* Starter Derby = Starter B
* Starter CT = Starter A
* Tadpole CT = Intro B
--- ALL tests may be read.
11. Unauthorized assistance while jumping is ok at Tadpole level only (technically at Grasshopper too, but we don't have any entries for that this time).
12. and finally (for now) scoring: Dressage as usual. CT jumping as usual (no time limit for tadpole). Derby Jumping -- 4 points for a knockdown, 10 points for first refusal, 20 points for 2nd refusal of same fence, 0.4 points per second for time faults. NOTE: while any score reported to MVEA for year end awards may contain a letter, we don't eliminate at the show. This is a schooling event. If you struggle with a cross country fence or think you might and wish to continue... please do so! We will add points to your score to keep it fair for those who do jump all the fences, but you will not be eliminated and asked to leave the course.

Overall time schedule:
Dressage
9am to 9:50 = Training CT, BN Derby, BN CT, Starter CT
10:22am to 11:28am = Starter Derby, Tadpole CT

Jumping
Training CT = 9:48am
BN Derby = 10:00am
(the above will take place while dressage is on a break... dressage after the break would be held if this jumping takes longer than anticipated)
BN CT = 10:15
Starter CT = 10:30

Starter Derby = 11:30
Tadpole Derby = 12:00

Rained here a bit this morning, but that will help keep some of the dust down from the arena.

Just a reminder of the costume contest taking place during the lunch break. Everyone gets treats for participating... and we have 4 prizes (categories are made up depending on what shows up) -- hint to the prizes is the pic. 😜

If you haven't already let us know you're participating, that's ok. We'll have a sign up sheet at the secretary's table. Even if you have signed up, please stop by in the morning and let us know what your costume is ... mostly so I don't sound dumb trying to figure it out on my own. 😁

Parking pasture should be open around 7:30 for our 9am start time. Remember ALL parking is in the pasture unless you're an SVF boarder, show official/volunteer, or mobility challenged. No horse trailers should be driven up the driveway.

As always.... let me know if there are questions... and good luck (and thank you) competitors!

09/29/2026

I can't guarantee there won't be changes, but here is the time schedule for Saturday's DLSC dressage show. Things right now to remember:
1) we're only using the large arena for this show. With the number of rides we accepted it means a longer day overall. Please be patient and yet on time. We will try to keep you posted if something happens and we run late.
2) warm up will be available in the small enclosed sand arena by the barn and to the south of the main arena.
3) SAFE costumes may be worn for your tests, but please keep in mind other horses and try not to freak them out too much. ;) Helmets MUST be worn at all times when mounted (this includes the costume contest). Sorry there is ZERO leeway on this policy.
4) we are expecting some rain on Friday. The parking pasture is high ground and should be fine, but if you find yourself slipping, please let us know and we'll help. Please do NOT make ruts in our pasture!
5) concessions will be available.
6) no dogs please. If you have a (real) service dog, please let me know.
7) Western Intro is split into Tests 1/4 and Tests 2/3. Western Basic is split into Test 1, Test 2, and Tests 3/4.
8) Training 1 and Western Basic 1 and 2 will be in the small arena. Training 2 and above, and Western Basic 3 and above will be in a Standard arena.
9) Costume contest at lunchtime in the front pasture at approximately 1:30.

Let me know if you have any questions or issues with the ride times.

09/24/2026

Next weekend's Halloween Dressage Show is closed and we are FULL!! We even have a rider or 2 on the waitlist.

If your name is NOT on this list and you entered the show, please reach out to me ASAP!! If heaven forbid something happens and you are unable to show, PLEASE let me know asap so I can make schedule adjustments. We are NOT running 2 rings this year so warm up space will be available on the south side of the show arena AND in the small sand ring near the barns. Costume contest will take place at lunchtime - currently scheduled for the pasture between the road and the barns, but we'll see if the ground dries enough. If you are interested in the costume contest, please let me know. We like to have enough treats for all as well as the prizes that we give out. Remember SAFE costumes may be worn for your judged rides - helmet are required when mounted at ALL times. Costumes can be mounted or unmounted.

If you have ANY questions, please let me know.
