A little over a month ago we got to hang with our friend Eric, from Benchtop Brewing. Benchtop is down in Norfolk, VA, but we met Eric at Glizzies and Fizzies a couple of years ago and also got to hang out at GABF last year. We got along so well we decided to brew beer together!

Eric and Justin discussed what they were most excited to drink and decided on a hoppy lager. Beer flavored beer!

We started with a base of Sugarcreek Malt Co. pilsner and pale ale malts, used some German hops for bittering, and then a bit of Mosiac in the whirlpool, before knocking out with Vera as fermentation kicked off. Using traditional and new world hops left this crushable lager with hay and grassy notes, along with a very subtle undertone of tropical fruits. But what you’ll notice most is a distinct, but welcoming, bitterness on the back end.

10°P Vera is a very approachable 4.1%, light, crisp, and full-flavored. It’s available on draft in the taproom and in 4-packs to-go as well!

It’s Thirsty Thursday and we’ll be here to help you quench it. Pop by and try something new tonight. Drink Dayton (and Norfolk) Beer!

Returning to draft and cans today is a pale ale ready to burn a path straight to your heart! That’s right, Burn The Path, our 5.5% pale ale that brings all the best of Simcoe hops is back and fresh as hell.
After trying it on draft this afternoon we’re getting notes of cantalope, wet grass, a pleasant funky dankness, and a bit of tropical fruit. If that sounds a little strange, that’s what we love about it! Simcoe can be polarizing for some folks, but we enjoy using it as a main hop or in a feature role.
This beer name was inspired by a song written by several of our friends from the old Dayton-based band, HQAX. Today also happens to be that band’s lead singer, and coincidentally our graphic designer, Jeff’s, birthday. Jeff creates most of our can and bottle label designs and does an amazing job for us. He’s also a pretty solid human, besides. Happy birthday, Jeff!
Come grab a 4-pack or a pint in the taproom this evening!

Last week, while we were packaging Violet Perception, and it was pouring for what felt like the second straight week and we were starting to build an arc to save two of every beer, Purple Rain came on in the brewhouse and we were all excited to release a purple beer in the purple rain. But we didn’t have draft space and we had to push the release back. So now we’re releasing this beautiful, bright violet, sour ale, conditioned on lime and ginger root, on the first lovely, sunny day we’ve had in a month. Is it as poetic? Maybe not. Does it look and taste great on a beautiful Ohio day? It sure does! And don’t worry, it’s supposed to rain tomorrow. Fun!

West Coast IPA summer also continues! With the release of Cavern, we’re back to a single, double, and triple WCIPA on draft. If you like em’ real dank and juicy, you can find that single or double, you’ll be in trouble, begging for those West Coast bubbles. Cavern is hopped heavily with Sultana and Nectaron which is giving us notes of tangerine, pineapple, and a solidly-balanced bitter finish. Both are available in 4-packs and on draft in the taproom today. And you can expect to find them both in bars and stores around Dayton, and Ohio, over the next couple of weeks!

We open at 4. See you then!

Never mind 5 o’clock, it’s SUNNY somewhere. We think.

We just got finished packaging two fresh beers! Sewn to the Sky is a fantastic hazy IPA that uses only the choicest New Zealand hops. Nectaron and Nelson Sauvin combine to give us notes of gooseberries, fresh nectarine, lime zest, and a slight white grape must. Have you ever had fresh gooseberries? We tasted them off of some scratch-and-lick wallpaper at an eccentric chocolatier’s candy factory. We got caught sneaking out of the factory with beer recipes given to us by these strange green-haired little men, so the factory owner refused to give us the factory, but our loss is your gain, because those recipes turned out pretty great! Anyway, if you scratch open the top of a can of Sewn to the Sky, you’ll definitely be able to smell all those gooseberries. And if you have enough of them (responsibly, of course) you may feel like you’ve had some Fizzy Lifting Drink.

The second beer would have been perfect for today’s weather but we’re out of draft space! A number of things are ready to kick, so get in here, try Sewn to the Sky, and maybe another pint or two, and we’ll trying to get this other beer on soon! Prince would have loved it.

Hot time, Roar of the City, this IPA is tropical and pretty! Crappy parody lyrics aside, we’re pretty pumped about this one.

Roar is here! It’s named after a Joan Jett and the Blackhearts lyric. We tasted it again and can’t believe how good it is. We try not to overhype things, we’re just worried the brewhouse is going to drink it all before you all get in here. If you like Piña Coladas (No, no more lyrics.) you’re going to love this. So get in here for Beer Week, day 2, at the brewery.

We also have a raspberry torte slushee on and we’re releasing “Tiki Torch” tomorrow at open!

See you in a bit!

Beer Week is officially on at the brewery!

Beginning today you can grab pints and 4-packs of “Carries the Sun” and Märzen!

We’ve heard some of you mentioning that we haven’t done enough with big beers and coconut recently, so we listened. On Friday we’re tapping Coconut Cauldron. We filled barrels with stout pretty recently and this is our left-over base stout, coming it at a whopping 12.9%, with over five pounds of toasted coconut per GALLON, added. It’s big, rich, and tastes exactly how you’d expect it to. Freaking delicious.

Lastly, Saturday we’ll finish with Halfway to Dimmer Day! Dimmer, three Dimmer variants, and a Dimmer slushee!

Final breakdown!
Tuesday - Carries The Sun, our Little Fish Brewing collab, released on draft and in cans.
Märzen, released on draft and in cans
Wednesday - Roar of the City, Hazy IPA release on draft and in cans
Thursday - Tiki Torch, Joose Sour released on draft.
Friday - Coconut Cauldron 12.9% Coconut Stout!
Saturday - Halfway to Dimmer Day Fruits and Nuts Edition

Happy Miami Valley Craft Beer Week! We hope to see you at our spot and bunch of our friend’s places as well this week. On Thursday we’re re-releasing a fan-favorite Joose Sour, “Tiki Torch”!

Tiki Torch is our BerlinerWeisse base with almost 400 pounds of mango, passionfruit, pineapple, and toasted coconut added. We don’t allow the fruit to referment, so it’s sweeter than our usual Berliners but finishes with just a light tartness from the beer and fruit together. It seems Beer Week falling in August this year left us feeling a bit tropical between our new IPA and this heavily fruited sour.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, we’re also going to be releasing Märzen! Is it super early? Absolutely. Are we being ground under the wheels of American capitalism by releasing ours just because everyone else is? Maybe. Do we still want to drink toasted lagers in August? Yup! So come grab a pint or a 4-pack and store it in your fridge until September if you’re so inclined! Or drink it and grab another in September, like us. We’re also releasing our Christmas Ale next week! Sorry, that’s actually a joke.

If you’re keeping track:
Tuesday - Carries The Sun, our Little Fish Brewing collab, released on draft and in cans
Märzen, released on draft and in cans
Wednesday - Roar of the City, Hazy IPA release on draft and in cans
Thursday - Tiki Torch, Joose Sour released on draft.
Friday - a really big stout coming to draft for the weekend only (more info coming this week)
