It also offered a tavern, making it a social gathering place for the community. The store was owned and operated by multiple generations of the Gilbertson family. Gilbertson, followed by Kenny Gilbertson, who started working there at the age of 10, eventually took over with his wife, June, after 43 years of tobacco farming. Gilbertson's has long been a cornerstone of the Keyeser community, providi

ng goods, services, and a cherished gathering place—a true "time capsule" and "community space" reflecting the town's rich history. After 130 years of dedicated service, Gilbertson's Store closed its doors in late October 2024 as Kenny Gilbertson retired. Now, under new ownership, David and Rachel Munz purchased the building in April 2025 and have proudly reopened it, welcoming all to reminisce and enjoy its legacy today.

She kept me going with her little known song 5-9 ( Yes- I typed that right it's different than 9-5)

I would blast this song as we spent nights tearing up floors and painting. It was a good reminder why we were doing all that work for. Rip Dolly!!!
