🌟 History of The Dressage Foundation's Young Rider International Dream Program 🌟

In 2000, Olympian Michael Poulin proposed a new program idea to take four top young American dressage riders to Europe for an introduction to European dressage trainers, riders, facilities, and events.

The concept of the program was to allow Young Riders the opportunity to enhance their understanding of dressage theory through this European experience. The Young Riders observed, discussed, and absorbed the European training system. They watched their peers compete in shows and championships and they visited with top European trainers and riders.

The program was open to Young Riders aged 16-21 and 22-year-old riders who participated in Young Riders the previous year, who were riding at Fourth Level or above. Selection was based on merit, riding proficiency, a history of volunteering in the dressage community, and commitment to training in the sport of dressage.

This program was not for every Young Rider. Those selected were at a highly advanced level of experience and commitment to their riding. For those who were, this introductory excursion into European dressage meant everything, and the riders came home more seriously committed than ever, knowing what they needed to work on to advance and excel in the sport.

Rare opportunity to lease a once in lifetime horse. Count is available for 1/2 or full lease at our beautiful Fairmount Farms. Count has been with me for 11 years and has had a successful show career through Intermediate 1. He is now enjoying doing lower level work and trail riding. He is VERY smooth to sit, so he would be ideal for someone who has a bad back or hip replacement. Count is pretty close to sainthood. He has a wonderful sweet, calm demeanor about him. Nothing phases him. He can have a couple months off and doesn’t need to be lunged to ride! Count has so much to give at 16 years young. Enjoy snuggling with him while you curry his favorite spots, or maybe a leisurely trail ride by yourself or with another rider is what you need after a long day at work. Perfect horse to get back into shape on, his gaits always have a steady tempo so he’s ideal for working on your position. If you’re interested in gaining knowledge from him he can teach you all the first level movements too 👏🏻. Maybe Count is your next Working Equitation horse ? At Fairmount Farms we have 23 acres of wooded trails, trails around the perimeter and ponds. We have a 1/4 mile galloping track and a fun water feature for horses to work through. Of course our barn is completely insulated and heated with a gorgeous, extra large ring with dust free footing. The family of Sharon Rose (Ashton) Poulin 4/1/1949-11/28/2022 will be gathering to celebrate her life, and they'd be honored if you'd join them. Her legacy is the difference she made, and we'd love to hear your memories. Although we're all grieving, let's take some time to be grateful for the years we had together. Come prepared to share your favorite memories and celebrate a very special life.

We are so happy and proud to support Dressage4kids and the future of our sport in this wonderful country!

🇬🇧️🇺🇲️BIG NEWS: TDF's Poulin Fund has awarded $5,000 to Lendon Gray and Dressage4kids trip to England! Participants will attend the 2018 FEI Pony European Championships, Mount St John Equestrian, Olympian Carl Hester’s training facility, and the training facility of Phoebe Peters.
