Q: How should I prep my yard before sod installation?
A good sod installation starts with good ground prep. Before laying sod, clear the area of weeds, rocks, and old grass so your new turfgrass has a clean place to take root.
Next, loosen and level the top few inches of soil to help the sod make solid contact with the ground. If your soil needs a little help, adding quality topsoil can improve the base before installation.
Finally, lightly water the area before the sod goes down. The goal is moist soil, not muddy soil, so the roots can settle in and begin establishing.
