Hoyt Farms

Hoyt Farms On our farm, we raise ADGA registered purebred Nubian and purebred and American Saanen dairy goats. We test regularly for CAE and maintain a CAE-free herd.

Although we only make a few shows a year, we strive to raise healthy, friendly dairy goats that milk heavily but can also do well in the show ring. Our last test was done by SEK Genetics in January of 2021 with all dairy does on the farm testing negative. Although we have not tested for CL or Johnnes, we have never had any indication of these problems in any goat on the farm. We have been members

of the Voluntary Scrapie Eradication program in Arkansas since it's beginning and have scrapie tags avaliable.

I try to work the bucks before rut. Well, that didn’t happen! So yesterday, the two big boys had hooves trimmed, CdT, Multimin and Ivomec Plus. They are good boys but I was sure grateful for Jon’s help. Picture of baby bucks. Big boys are not pretty right now!

Today’s feature doe is Pizzazz. She has been on once morning milking for maybe 3 months now. She doesn’t seem inclined to dry off! She was recently exposed to Gabriel for December 2027 kids.

These seemingly innocent creatures were all screaming for a boyfriend yesterday. I have 13 does and 11, including two December kids, were wagging tails and screaming. Several does were exposed to bucks for mid December kids but the bucks said it was awfully hot for this! They were smelly this morning so we may have some Dec kids….or not!!

Last goats for sale DOE HAS BEEN SPOKEN FOR. The two in front are bucklings - selling as grades
as they would have to be DNA tested to determine sire. Their dam is a big girl who really puts milk in the pail. Doe behind is a yearling. She raised a nice kid but her udder is uneven, she has a lot of ear control, and I need to sell a doe so I can keep a kid. All are purebed Nubian, CAE negative, G6S normal Holler if interested.

Note to self, when you have a yearling who has not gotten the no kicking memo, and you decide enough. And you tie her feet to the milk stand. ALWAYS untie those feet before you release her head! As she drug the milk stand around In a panic, I thought she would break her legs and mine. But we all survived and she gave a decent amount of milk. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?
