We raise miniature/classic Hereford's for seed stock to other beef producers, as well as grass fed beef. Our cattle are raised on reconstructed native and certified Iowa prairie. Our cattle are grass fed and given small quantities of local grains. Our miniature/classic Herefords are smaller in size then their modern counterpart. They are selectively bred to be more like the cattle of my Grandfathe
r and fathers day, but without the excess fat. A butcher steer is usually 600-850 pounds dependent on frame size. Compared to a modern 1100 to 1700 pound counterparts. The miniature/classics are docile, require less feed, cause less damage to pastures and fences because of their smaller stature. The average Mini beef is less hanging weight so costs less to purchase then its modern counterpart while perfectly feeding an average family of 4 about a year. No waste or extra meat to get used up. The beefs flavor and texture are outstanding, and portion sizes are more in line with todays dietary guidelines. (A Miniature/Classic steak is smaller then its modern counterpart.) We use absolutely no implants, steroids, or growth hormones in our cattle. They are cared for humanly and are happy and content. Our calves make perfect 4H projects for children because of their small stature and docile nature. Our cattle have excellent bloodlines and are registered with the Purebred Herefords Breeders Association. We also raise small groups of pork for butcher. Our hogs are raised outdoors in fresh air, on pasture and are fed local grains. They are given no antibiotics and no growth stimulants. We also have farm fresh eggs from free range chickens.
