Have you ever watched combining oats??

I’ve got to say it is super exciting & impressive every time! Can’t stop watching. The combine is a massive machine & it just appears like it floats on the fields.

It take the oats and separates the oats from the stems which are now straw. Drops the straw out the bottom and then puts the oats in the trucks for harvest. It really leaves one in awe. Pictures and videos can’t possibly convey the experience but I tried.

Special thanks to Chris Landis. He is a master operator. Maneuvering amongst the fields of oats. So spectacular. So impressive.

Some people have careers. Pat Hughes has a calling that runs deeper than work.

For more than 20 years, Pat and Traci have poured their hearts into Hughes Farms, nurturing it from a small roadside stand into something truly meaningful. Farming isn’t just what Pat does—it’s woven into who he is. It’s a story that began with his grandfather, Buster Hughes who farmed all his life & planted the seed of farming in Pat. His parents Patti & Bob Marquart (& Richard Hughes who’s looking down on the farm from above), always love & support the farm- Pat’s dream. Pat has carried forward through generations of early mornings, weathered hands, quiet hope, and unwavering dedication.

Today, we don’t just celebrate Pat—we honor the family, friends and very special farm workers who have stood beside him through long days, before-sunrise starts till long into the night, and every season that has tested and strengthened them. We also thank our very supportive farmer friends that have helped love & guide us through the years. Thank you for helping feed our community with care and love. Today, we celebrate farmer worker appreciation day, and thank YOU, our customers better known as friends of the farm- for without you, things are not possible. Thank you for supporting local farmers who give so much of themselves to every harvest. ❤️🌽🚜
