We have several hundred early tomatoes already planted in the field, we are keeping them warm tonight under low tunnels with C9 lights. You have to keep tomatoes above 43 degrees or they will get set back a week for each night below 43 degrees. Squash in the field has been double covered with frost blankets.

We hope everyone is as excited as we are that the Decatur farmers market opens next month. We grew about 20 squash plants in 3 gallon pots to put out in the field of squash to help with pollination. We picked squash today off some of those 20 plants and enjoyed fresh squash tonight.

We will be at the Decatur farmers market April 9th. We are excited and cannot wait to see everyone.

We survived the artic front and snow and live to fight another day. The only casualty was my wallet as we burned about 30 gallons of propone overnight in two days, this afternoon it was 96 degrees in one of the greenhouses. It's going to be a very busy and muddy week, we have around 500 early tomatoes and squash to get planted. All the field planted cole crops were covered and survived, the strawberries took a little hit as I noticed a few brown blooms but nothing we can't overcome.

Strawberries are blooming and the green bean trellises are up. We should have berries around the first of April.

We are looking at around Halloween having enough to bring to the market. Quanties will be limited because the young plants do not produce as well as they do in the spring.

The Farmers Market makes Tuesdays better! See you this evening from 3:00-6:30pm. 📸 Flint City Farms Note: Flint City isn’t at the market tonight. They will be back in the morning!
Bought your tomatoes today in Decatur, had for lunch, Wonderful. Tasted much better than I thought they could this time of year. Interested in Okra, I prefer small so I can boil. Love turnip greens, Tender Greens are my preferred type. Kennebec potatoes are best tasting potatoes I have found, hope you will consider planting some. I will pick Okra/tomatoes, and Greens. I'll pick up potatoes if turned up. Or I will purchase at Decatur Farmers Market if that is what you prefer. Did give Flint City Farms a plug on my fb page before finding your page. Flint City Farms will be at the farmers market Wednesday, with squash, some Zucchini, radishes and cabbage. We will be back Saturday with the same plus new potatoes,so come by and see us!
