Arrived at the farm afternoon yesterday. Wow was it hot! Was hoping to get some seed sowed among other projects. Wound up taking refuge under the shade of the 'forest.' Waiting for the Sun to drop a bit lower in the sky. I can't sit still so I made efficient use of my time and went hunting! I spent a good hour and a half in search of sassy trees! Not really convinced I found any, but I'm sure some poison ivy found me... And a fair amount of tics... It was a beautiful hunt, however!! And finally some shade settled on my plowed/disc rows and I planted another round of green beans, squash, tomato starts, carrots and kale. Tim joined me after he was done with work and dug more potatoes. I harvested the beginning of a bunch summer squash. Green beans have baby beans! Hoping to get a good harvest this next week with some tomatoes. Planning a driving route with harvest in the back of our pick up truck for sale this next week. Friday :). Starting at aqua dog. If you would like me to swing by your way please let me know! 402 874 1972. XOXO

Can't believe how busy we have been! So busy that I've forgotten to take pictures to share the goings on at our farm! To sum up: tractor broke down, tractor fixed, tractor broken-tractor fixed-tractor broken, tractor fixed-tractor broken tractor fixed and the whole fuel system has essentially all new parts ;) runs like a dream! Until the hydraulic system stopped working right and we couldn't get the lift to do its job. But last night we got it working again! Fixed! Today I have a new hydraulic leak.... Thankfully it looks like a seal has gone bad, so we will be fixing that in the next few days. In between the tractor drama we have managed to grow and harvest produce! I'm attaching photos shared with me if our farmers market booth at memorial hospital on Wednesdays as well as a few that I've managed to capture as well!

Yesterday was another beautiful day working at the farm! And a special thank you to Bertus of Big sycamore farm for helping me put in squash and melon transplants between rain showers! And for also educating me on the tricky parts of planting: never give in to the temptation to plant too much, too close!!!

Our sister farm is accepting CSA sign ups with a new local pick up at the Tuesday farmers market on East Brainerd and Morris Hill! Don't delay! You don't want to miss a single box! They are absolutely beautiful! Did didn't get more real than this!! https://m.facebook.com/BigSycamoreFarm/

And an update on progress at Sourwood Hollow Farm to follow soon! Lots happening here as well!

Early spring bounty from Big Sycamore Farm: romaine, Swiss chard, green onions, radishes, bok choy, and parsley (plus a few other greens not pictured). The highlight of today, though, was seeing six newborn piglets (and watching the birth of one of them!).

This evening at the farm! Squeezing in a quick onion planting session! Roughly 400 feet double planted! More to go, but planting by moonlight can be a bit challenging! When I realized I was planting some of the onions upside down, we called it a night! Another planting session in the near future, but happy to have a good planting in in time for tonight's rain.

As we have mentioned before, we are sister farm to Big Sycamore Farm. Along with our favorite veggies, we will be growing melons, potatoes, onions and winter squash for Big Sycamore Farm's CSA boxes! Take a moment and read about their CSA program! They offer full and half shares, great payment options, and they are flexible with substitutes offered in their weekly newsletter! Work shares are also available! If you are interested in purchasing a share in the farm, you won't be disappointed! Every box I've received from Big Sycamore Farm has been just beautiful!! http://www.bigsycamorefarm.com/

We grow vegetables & herbs intensively almost year round, selling it thru our CSA program, at local farmer's markets and to local restaurants.

Big day today! We sealed the deal and bought the farm! Can't believe it's really ours! Please enjoy a quick walk about. From this spot on the farm, everything you see here is part of the farm! Can't wait to plant it all!!

Sunshine will be upon us soon! Moments like these are what keep me sane in the cold and wet that we call winter ;)
