Hey Mushroom Lovers!

Wanted to just bring you some information on how to shop for the right mushroom supplements.

Always choose a supplement that has next to each mushroom’s name, the words “fruiting body.” Avoid mushroom supplements with “myceliated grain” in the ingredients or some variation of the word “mycelium.”

The fruiting body is the actual mushroom cap and stem. Mycelium is the root system of a mushroom grown on top of a grain substrate resulting in a supplement that is about 50% roots, 50% filler, and 0% of real mushroom. Why would some manufacturers do this? Because mycelium is cheaper and faster to produce than waiting for a full proper mushroom to grow. The problem is that the fruiting body is where most of the beta-glucans, the beneficial compounds of a mushroom, are found. A 2014 study published in the journal Microbiology analyzed the concentration of beta-glucans in both fruiting bodies and mycelia. The study concluded that fruiting bodies have up to 100% more beta-glucans than mushrooms grown on a mycelium base.39 This study lends further support to a separate 2011 study published in the journal Food Chemistry which indicated that fruiting bodies have as much as 2.5 times the amount of beta-glucans than mycelia.40 To achieve peak results, we recommend selecting a supplement that uses only fruiting bodies.

Replace that BLT with the PLT!!

Ingredients:

1/2 lb. of Pink Oyster Mushrooms
One local grown tomato
Lettuce and spinach (source locally if possible)
2 tbsp Organic Maple Syrup - add more for extra flavor
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp of sea salt
Sliced bread (prefer sourdough, didn't have any at time )😅

1. Wash Pink oysters, be sure you squeeze all the water out of the mushrooms you don't want them to be soaked. Could even pat dry with paper towels and let lay out to dry up before cooking.
2. Add syrup, paprika, and sea salt and mix together with pink oysters.
3. You can air fry for a much crispier texture or pan Sautee for a little meatier texture. (air fryer- 400 deg for 8-10 minutes) (pan with butter- cook until desired texture is reached.
4. Butter and toast bread, add mayonnaise, lettuce, spinach and enjoy!
