We have fought the flooding and as a result sand and weeds have tried to take over so the struggle has been real this season. Finally, feeling like we are getting back to normal.

This is the biggest mess we have dealt with in the sod fields since Daddy passed away. It has been a bit overwhelming to be honest about it and almost made Alan throw his hands up and give up. Thanks to a great friend and a mentor who came and helped to start tackling the piles of sand we can now see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have finally been able to mow, spray and fertilize so the plan is to start the cutting season June 16th.

Thank you to everyone who has called and tries to stay loyal to Panther Creek. We are part-time sod farmers because of full-time jobs so it is hard for our customers sometimes.

We love meeting all of you and especially when you tell us you were customers of Fred and tell us a story or two about him.

Todays update: we can no longer see the pond levee. We haven’t seen it this bad since 2019 at least but I honestly think it is higher right now.

Well… it will be a while before we can cut sod. Every field we have is under water with no end in sight. I hope everyone will be patient with us and give us time to recover. It will be later than normal before we dry out from this flooding.

We haven’t seen any of these for a couple of years but Alan found a few in one corner of a field today. They haven’t done a lot of damage yet, thank goodness. We got spray from Ted Raines and started spraying all the fields immediately.

We post this to say, go check your sod and if you have these worms (army worms) take care of them immediately. They will wipe out a yard in 24 hours and are very invasive.

The larva is carried in by a flying insect and they obviously reproduce quickly.

Check your vegetation because they are obviously back and you will need to take care of them quickly if you have them.

Our main goal after daddy passed away was to make the sod he loved so much the best in West Tennessee to honor him. Alan cares for and babies this Bermuda like a child and it shows.

I needed an afternoon in the field after this long week, it always makes me feel a little closer to him somehow. I was amazed at how awesome the fields looked.
