Cowboy Christmas is coming, and the preparations are a family affair!

We headed to the mountains to gather poles for the tents so we can get them set up before the snow comes. Our whole family puts heart and soul into everything we do at RanchMomma.

This trip brought back so many memories. My cowboy and I used to work in the backcountry of the Bob Marshall Wilderness—that’s how we met. I remember cutting lots of wood and helping drag poles to set up camp.

Now here we are, years later, working alongside our children and getting ready to welcome you to our Cowboy Christmas. Still building, still working together, and making more memories along the way.

Feeling happy and thankful for this life we’re building.

My hardworking cowboy by my side, healthy kids, good dogs, and good horses. Thankful for what we do and that we get to do it together.

The days can be long and the work never seems to end, but there’s so much good in this life. God is good, and my heart is grateful.

Beef oxtail—old-fashioned comfort food full of flavor!

Why give it a try?

Provides protein for maintaining muscles.
Contains iron, zinc, and vitamin B12.
Collagen-rich connective tissue turns into gelatin during slow cooking, creating a rich, silky broth.
Delicious in soups, stews, and gravy.
Helps us use and appreciate more of the animal!

How do you cook it? Low and slow!

Season 2–3 pounds of thawed oxtail with salt and pepper, then brown all sides in a little beef tallow. Place in a covered Dutch oven with onion, garlic, carrots, and enough beef broth to nearly cover the meat.

Cook at 325°F for about 3–4 hours, checking occasionally and adding broth if needed, until the meat is fork-tender and pulls easily from the bone. Skim excess fat and serve over mashed potatoes or rice.

Donating to Deer Lodge Elks Lodge #1737 is a wonderful way to give back to the community we call home.

Their community service has included a backpack and school supply project that help students start school prepared. That’s a real example of neighbors helping neighbors! And so much more.

They just stopped by and picked up,RanchMomma’s donated 50 pounds of delicious ranch raised beef and 25 pounds of delicious ancestral blend!

Elk and deer are naturally lean, which means they can dry out quickly. A little beef tallow in the skillet can help you:
