Last Wednesday Sharmaign went into labor, but ended up needing a little assistance. After I pulled this boy out it was apparent why she needed help, as he clocked in at 47 lbs!! Thankfully everybody is happy and healthy now. I think I'll name him Jumbo Shrimp.

Did you know llamas HATE to be watched going into labor? If they can see humans around their hormones will prevent them from going to into labor. Of the fifteen crias born at the farm last year, all 15 dams went into labor while I was away. I only got this photo from two years ago because I was watching through binos from 1/2 mile away and had to move in to help when the cria presented incorrectly. Which is why I'm not doing the chores I need to be doing at the farm today. I've got a dam who is on day 372 of her pregnancy so I'm giving her some privacy.
