Full age Altitude summer yearling sells today at the Waupaca Waushara Show Opportunity Sale!

Altitude whose grand dam is the 94 point Lucious back to the Lulu’s. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get in on this pretty heifer we had the pleasure of developing.

It’s a cold one out here today.

We have -25 air temp at 7am with a feel like of -46 🥶

We spent yesterday moving all our baby calves that spend their first few days out in hutches into the barn. The newborns are staying inside where it’s nice and warm until early next week. We also made a pen inside our warm room for any babies that may need attention.

We also bed our older heifers extra heavy-while we normally put 6-7 round bales in twice a week, yesterday they got 11 and even got some bedding in the front of their pens to keep their feet warm while they eat.

It’s 10 degrees warmer in the calf barn than it is outside but they are out of the wind which really helps! They all looked good this morning complete with white whiskers and eye lashes. And we love our 4-D Ag Fashion coats. Definitely recommend!

Our robot barn is a balmy 32 degrees this morning. It may be foggy in there but I felt like I could shed some layers when I was in there this morning.

And of course we have a beautiful sunrise to start this bone chilling cold day.

Jake and his crew will have their hands full keeping everything running today.

Stay safe and warm out there!

What a wild ride December has been.

From snow and below zero to warm, foggy and damp and now a blizzard they say.

This is nothing short of exhausting weather as a producer with livestock.

It’s bedding and bedding your young stock some more. When you think it’s enough, you add some more so you can sleep a little better.

It’s managing your ventilation system multiple times a day.

It’s watching your cattle like a hawk for any sign of pneumonia because these are prime conditions for pneumonia.

It’s wishing you could have all your cattle in a climate controlled environment to help them ride the wild weather swings better.

Wr are thankful for our heath monitoring system, Smaxtec because it helps us catch signs of illness before they show clinical signs. The more proactive we can be, the better for the cow.

Eternally grateful for our team that gets it done everyday. Because when it seems like a lot of extra work, we are doing what is best for our cattle.

Stay safe out there ❤️

It’s been an eventful last day here but we are so grateful for our team who without asking had a plan together of what they were going to do and took action.

We offered our help but they said we’ve got it. Guys came in on their day off, one worked all day and then worked well into the night. One agreed to take the night shift he doesn’t enjoy to make things work for the weekend. Icing on the cake? They had a new person here this morning and he started on the coldest day of the season so far. You just can’t ask for anything more as an employer

And lastly, we have to say how grateful and blessed we are with the vet we have. Without hesitation she said I’m on my way when we had an emergency this morning and she wasn’t even on call. We are so lucky to have her on our team.

Stay warm out there today!
