This is NOT blood!!

The red liquid on the plate when eating a rare steak is not blood. It is a protein called myoglobin, which distributes oxygen to the muscles.

All blood has been removed from the carcass during the harvesting process. There is no such thing as bloody meat.

We just had a customer tell us, “When I visited the farm I purchased some ground beef to sample and the vacuum sealed bags leaked blood into the grocery bag I brought them home in so I wasn't comfortable eating it.” 🤔

Farm fresh meat is going to have more of this liquid because it’s fresh and hasn’t been exposed to air!

Deer Trail Custom Cuts would like to thank our customers for their continued support over the years. The locker is owned and operated by Deb and Travis Vallin (since November 2017), and we don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. We are always on the lookout for dependable, hard-working, team-oriented trimmers and wrappers. We process beef, hogs, sheep, goats, bison, and wild game. We have a few dates left on the schedule for the end of 2022 and 2023. We have a waiting list for other dates. We offer walk-in pick ups between 8-2, Monday through Friday, other times by appointment. If you have any questions, please give us a call at the locker 303-769-4544.

Unique opportunity for a couple to join a growing business with Housing in Deer Trail, Colorado. We are a family-owned business that operates a custom meat locker in a small town 40 miles east of Denver, Colorado. We are looking for a couple who would like the opportunity to work with us to grow our business and work with our customers to offer a hands-on, custom-cut experience. We currently process approximately 10-15 beef per week for our customers, as well as our own farm-raised beef that we market directly to customers throughout the Front Range of Colorado. We also process hogs, sheep, goats, bison, and wild game. We smoke and cure our own meats and seasonally offer a variety of sausages, jerky, and snack sticks. The ideal candidates would be hard working, dedicated to customer service, self-starters, honest and fun loving. Experience in meat cutting, slaughter, wrapping and processing strongly desirable. Housing (3 bedroom, 1 bath) located adjacent to the locker. A few weekend or evening hours may be required to help customers load out and extended hours on occasion but in general, we try to avoid it whenever possible. Salary negotiable with experience.
