While my beautiful wife Elizabeth Schneider is away with her mother celebrating her birthday, I am having to take care of all the cats and dogs on the farm. I just got everything together.... This is what Liz does. Every day, without fail. That's in addition to feeding me, herself, and whoever else happens to be around the farm that day. I don't tell her enough that I appreciate everything she does.

The barn is a little less hectic tonight, as we have 4 fewer kids on the farm. It is bittersweet watching the first 4 of my kids head off to their new farm.

I was there when they were born. I made sure they were safe and warm, and had Moms who would take care of them.

But, this also means I've succeeded in another step of building my dream. There is so much more to come, but I'm happy to breathe for a few minutes and enjoy what Elizabeth Schneider and I have built together here on the farm.

Here's a picture of the current kids on the farm. Bowie, and Harrison of course, along with Snickers, Butterscotch, and Oreo. The other three could be heading out as soon as next weekend.

Time really flies with these guys.

We are getting very close! The kids are weaned, the boys who are old enough are banded, and we are just waiting on their new homes to be ready for them! We will be sending 1 intact buckling, 1 wether, and 2 doelings together to one farm. We will also have 3 wethers going to a wonderful new home with a first time owner, who will be having her grandkids help raising them. We are so happy to have found such good homes for all of our kids!

Today was a first for Elizabeth Schneider and I on the farm. 6 of the 7 boys we had, 4 of which will be leaving soon, will be leaving as wethers (castrated males). For 4 of them, today was the day. Using a tool called a ba**er, we started that process. In a couple of weeks, they will lose their unnecessary parts, and should maintain their docile, friendly nature. Our sole buck who will be leaving is Layla's beautiful little black and white boy with blue eyes. He will hopefully be mating with Fergie's 2 little girls when they come of age, as they are all going to the same farm. Liz did a great job assisting, and I am so proud of her for being a part of something she was less than comfortable with.

It's official, all of the kids have found their forever homes! They will start heading out in a week or two!
