Olde Pine Spring Hazelnut gave us two darling frosted eared doelings and a gorgeous white buckling 🐐🤎🤍🤎 I'm often asked why I chose goats. My fist thought is always that cows are too big, sheep aren't too swift and pigs are too stinky 😂 I have experience with most all livestock but never goats until a few years ago and they have certainly been the best choice for our family. Fun personalities, kind dispositions, a manageable size and much to my surprise, so much milk and the CUTEST babies!

Elsa's family! She is our queen and everyone knows it 😆 One buckling and one little "mini me" doeling. Today they apprehensively had their first walk in the snow and it was all we could do to lure them out of the warm barn ❤️

We get asked often, what do you use your goat milk for? We use it the same way we used to use store-bought milk. In cereal, cooking, drinking, baking. Goat milk is naturally homogenized so it's extra sweet and creamy. After we bring a bucket of milk into the house, we filter it twice and place it into sterilized glass jars and immediately put it into the refrigerator or freezer to chill.

Every few months we trim all of our goats hooves. Some grow much faster than others. Here is a before and after of one of Betty's hooves after 3 months of growth. Trimming helps them walk soundly and prevents infection. To do this we use a pick brush as well as hoof trimming shears which look similar to pruning shears.
