Been a long time since a post. We have some veggies coming in. Mostly squash. Our whole sale buyer gets the buy first. After that we will have a squash stand set up by the road if we have extras. Plans for next season are already being developed to provide a large variety of fruit and Veg. With the drought this year everything is growing so slow.

Before during and after. This is a hugelkultur mound. Will be planting herbs here!!

Prepping the rows! We are using old school tools and new school thoughts! We are digging down this year on our walk ways and will fill them with wood chips. This has many positives and negatives of course.

Yet the way we look at it is building soil. The wood chips will pull some N but will also hold water. Meanwhile they will slowly be breaking down to replace the soil we moved and will feed the microbes in the soil!

Pigs farrowing pen is up and pigs are starting to have some milk come in! Crop planning has happened. We will be cutting out some crops for this year to try and focus more on the summer only crops people love. Going to be a great year!

No matter the situation, the weather or the time. Farmers and their family’s have to tend to their animals. Without them they will die. If they die so will the farmer. Proper treatment and care is always most important. Farmers expose themselves to terrible conditions to provide their animals a happy life. Farmers do care about their animals. Those animals are family. That family provides and they are sad when they struggle. The farmer struggles with them. The farmer will be there for birth, for sickness, for good health for bad days. What some people don’t understand is yes they might be food but farmers care about their food because that food is family and takes care of their family. It is often a thankless job by society but farmers don’t need that thank. All they need is the rub or bump from their animal to know they are happy and thanking them
