It was a crazy unexpected day on the homestead. I had Violeton the stanchion when I glanced over and saw Willow had a foot sticking out of her. I told the kids she was in labor and we all jumped in to action. It was a drama free birth and she had 1 buck and 1 doe. As I was helping her get all situated I looked out and Honeybun and noticed she appeared to be in labor as well. Within minutes she delivered 2 bucks. Everyone seems to be doing well!

It's maple syrup season and we got around 100 gallons of sap that turned into 3 1/2 gallons of syrupy goodness. This is hopefully only the first of a few boil downs for 2026. Maybe the silver lining of this snowstorm coming is extra sap flow!

My cows think it's unfair they have to stay outside on this dreary, drizzly day. They are giving me "the look" and everytime I peek put my door this is what I see. I feel it through the walls 🤣.

I am working with Violet to prepare her to be milked. She was not halter trained (and she is a big cow so far safety reasons I really need to have some control) But I think we are making progress! Eric has been working on the stantion and will be done soon so we are practicing while we wait.

Also, we have been getting a large quantity of eggs each day. I am very thankful!
