There’s a lot of history behind a glass of Sweet Red. 🍷

When Prohibition began in 1920, keeping a winery going wasn’t exactly easy. But our family found a way. Val Verde Winery was able to continue making wine for sacramental purposes, which helped keep the winery going through those years.

Sweet Red has been part of our family’s story for generations, and it’s pretty special knowing the wines we pour today are connected to the same traditions that helped us keep going.

Val Verde Winery’s vineyard roots date all the way back to 1883.

More than 140 years ago, our founder Frank Qualia planted Lenoir grapes right here in Del Rio, beginning a winemaking tradition that would continue through generations of the Qualia family.

Even through Prohibition, our family continued tending the vineyard—helping preserve a piece of Texas wine history that is still growing today.

Deep roots, generations of tradition, and a story that began right here in 1883. 🍷
