So this may not seem much to you, but it is a HUGE win for me although it is small. Short story..our oldest son and his family live in Texas. I was talking about how everyone does sunflower fields and I wanted to do something different. He said why don’t you do Texas bluebonnets—they are everywhere in Texas and grow like crazy even in the ditches & weeds. I said yeah but that’s Texas not Illinois! But after lots of googling and reading I found that they may actually over winter here..so I found a website out of Texas that sold a mixture of some of Texas’ wildflowers. Hubs tilled the field in Nov 2025 & I broadcast the field by hand. I really was not trying to get my hopes up..until this last couple of weeks I started to see some little purple buds in a few places. Then some tall poppies showed up!! There is not a lot but they say it takes about 3 years to establish and spread! I have attached the list of the flowers that are in the mix I planted. I am excited to see what else pops up!🤩👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰 PS still trying sunflower bed again this year and hope those deer don’t ruin it again like they did last year🙏🤞
