Meet another one of your 2025 ACA Board of Directors candidates, Shane Emberson of Blanchard, Oklahoma!

Shane's roots in the breed go back to the 1980s, when his cousin served as the ACA’s second-ever field representative and sparked a passion that shaped their small operation. Shane and his brothers began their journey in the showring, where they were pushed to learn, work hard, and surround themselves with mentors. A pivotal moment came in 1995 with the purchase of HXC Tiffany 252E 1CA, who went on to be Reserve Champion at the 1997 Chiangus Classic and became the foundation of a 30-year commitment to the breed. Since then, the Embersons have bred/exhibited many national champions and All-Americans.

Today, the focus is on the next generation. Shane’s children campaigned DJ Who Dat Sultry Queen to back-to-back All-American honors, while his niece recently exhibited the Reserve Champion Chi Female at the Fort Worth Stock Show.

When asked about the breed’s strengths, Shane emphasizes unmatched potency of Chi genetics. Their influence is easily recognized in phenotype, structure, and quality. Just as important is the longevity and durability of Chi-influenced cows, which he calls one of the best-kept secrets in the business.

He chose to run for the BOD because he believes in the future of the Chianina/Chiangus breeds. His philosophy is to “face reality as it is”—embracing strengths, addressing weaknesses, and remembering that every association is in the customer service business. Whether serving members, junior families, or commercial bull buyers, Shane believes each opportunity to provide value helps the ACA thrive.

The Embersons promote Chi genetics through the junior show program, focusing on quality over quantity. They are highly selective about what females they exhibit or sell, and their bull standards are even more strict: if a bull isn’t good enough to use in their own herd, they don’t sell him. He believes the best promotion comes from breeding the best cattle possible and keeping selection standards high.

If elected, Shane hopes to bring his passion, experience, and family legacy, ensuring growth and opportunity for all Chianina/Chiangus breeders.
