We'll have an assortment of Polish chicks available tomorrow at our 10:00 AM adult bird pickup. Chicks are $3 each with a 5-chick minimum, or take all 40 for $100.

We have lots of Blue Layer breeder hens (like this Butter Blue) currently available! Since it's pretty early in the season, these girls are looking really good still and laying well. These gals are only about 9 months old and still have plenty of eggs to give. They are a great value and would love a chance to be added to your flock.

We have load out slots on Saturday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 22 at 10am.

We had a strong hatch of meat chicks this week, and we still have 100 Colorado Gold meat chicks still available this week! $4/ea or $3.50 for if someone wants all 100.

Colorado Golds are our best-selling meat bird, bred for strong growth at elevation without the common heart issues seen in fast-growing white broilers. Roosters typically reach 5-6 lb average in about 10-12 weeks, while hens will be 4-Slbs . They can get much larger if you grow past this age. They should be fed free choice for best growth.

We are officially starting adult breeder hen sales for the season!

These are 9–10 month old hens from our breeding program who produced this year’s chicks. Whiting Farms Hatchery is committed to responsibly rehoming these breeder hens as they move out of our program and into a life of sunshine, outdoors, and dust baths.

A few things to know:

• These are still good producers, but expect a transition period before regular laying resumes. Please see the transition tips on our website for best results.
• Expect some feather wear from roosters
• These girls have not been trained to roosts or nesting boxes and will need to learn to be proper chickens.

With a little patience and good care, these hens will settle in and be a productive member of your flock.

Utah folks — we have a transport going out April 10 to Heber and Vernal with room left for chicks and adult layers! Please message us for special pricing and details. Fees apply for transport, but we’re able to offer discounted pricing on the chicks to help offset the cost.

Some of you may have seen our post about our improved Whiting Blue line (stronger birds, higher production). While we aren’t able to ship hatching eggs, we will have these chicks available on April 10—this is your chance to get those great genetics into your flock!

We have plenty of chicks left, and we’ve just added new adult layers and bantams.

Here are a few breed highlights:

🔵 Whiting True Blue
Our Whiting True Blue line has been significantly improved through selective breeding, moving from a solid producer to a high-production bird. They’re slightly larger, very robust, and consistently productive.

🟢 Whiting Greens
This year’s Whiting Greens are especially striking—mostly dark gray chicks with pea combs and subtle patterning from their Welsummer cross. We expect they will laying a slightly darker green egg compared to the lighter pastels we’ve seen before, with excellent production to match.

🟤 Marans (Copper, Black, Cuckoo, Red, Special Rare Lavender)
We have several varieties of Marans available and are happy to accommodate specific requests based on availability. Our Coppers remain the darkest layers, and we’ve been selecting for deeper color and more speckling (see photo in comments). Reds and Blacks lay slightly lighter eggs but are higher production and very hardy birds.

⚪ Moon Dust Tints (formerly Pewter, pictured here)
A beautiful, high-production line developed from our Moon Dust coloration. The genetics behind this color—a sex-linked recessive trait—are unique to Whiting Farms and trace back to a single mutation in one bird several years ago.

🔴 Whiting Red Comet
We’re reintroducing our Rhode Island Red line as the Whiting Red Comet—a high-production red developed from several strong laying lines. Expect performance similar to Ginger Browns (around 280–300 eggs annually), along with a hardy build and notably docile temperament. We’ve renamed this line to more accurately reflect what it is—a high-performance production red vs a heritage Rhode Island Red.

We’ll be highlighting more breeds in the coming weeks, but wanted to share a few favorites available in this hatch.

New: End-of-Week Hatch Specials

We’ll be offering end-of-week deals on surplus chicks from each hatch.

Details:
• Minimum order: 100 chicks
• Hatchery choice only (no breed selection)
• Female layer chicks only – no straight run, bantams (unless requested), or meat birds
• Availability varies week to week
• Pricing depends on quantity (larger orders = better pricing)
• Friday or Saturday pickup only

These will still be a wide breed mix across categories, including plenty of colored egg layers.

If you’re flexible and want good birds at a strong price, this is a good fit. Reach out to get on the list. Delivery to Front Range is available every other week, and to Utah periodically (additional charge applies for delivery).

Also, if you are interested in 50+ quantities of started birds (6-8 weeks old), please message us. We partner with farms who can grow out custom orders.
