Every day when I’m leaving for work, I glance over at the animal pens that are now empty. It breaks my heart. I miss my farm & my livestock. Between work & school, I couldn’t keep up with it alone anymore. It was hard, expensive, tiring, & bittersweet but the love I shared with those animals will never be comparable to anything else. It taught me the true meaning of life & death, love & loss..I learned how to process chickens & turkeys to put food on our table, I learned about sicknesses & hatching eggs, I learned so much about goats, chickens, & turkeys. I knew meds & dosages without even having to look it up. They had names & would come when I called them. I have never laughed, smiled, & cried so much. They were my family. I’m praying one day I can have it all again but I will never forgot the past memories & think of each of them daily. I miss each & every one of them so very much 😭
