One of the biggest myths we hear is:

“Quail eggs are just too small.”

At first glance, it seems true.

But here’s what most people don’t realize…

🥚 Coturnix quail begin laying at just 6–8 weeks old.

🥚 A healthy hen can lay 250–300+ eggs each year.

🥚 They require a fraction of the space, feed, and upkeep compared to chickens.

🥚 Their eggs have a rich, creamy flavor and a higher yolk-to-white ratio, making them a favorite for everything from breakfast to appetizers.

Yes, they’re smaller than chicken eggs.

But when you have a productive flock, you’ll quickly realize those little eggs add up!

How We Hard-Boil Coturnix Quail Eggs

One of our favorite ways to enjoy them is hard-boiled.

Here’s our simple method:

1️⃣ Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil.

2️⃣ Carefully lower the quail eggs into the boiling water.

3️⃣ Boil for 3½ to 4 minutes for firm, fully cooked yolks.

4️⃣ Immediately transfer them to an ice bath for 5 minutes.

5️⃣ Gently crack the shell all the way around and peel under running water if needed.

They’re perfect for snacks, salads, charcuterie boards, deviled quail eggs, or pickling.

Sometimes the best things really do come in small packages.
