Hear ye, hear ye!

On this World Su***de Prevention Day, the Crier calls upon the good people of Eaton and our neighboring communities to remember something of great importance:

Every life matters. Every person matters. And no one should feel that they must face their darkest hour alone.

There are times when the burdens of life become heavier than a person feels able to carry. A neighbor may be struggling. A friend may be hurting. A family member may quietly be losing hope. Sometimes, the person who needs help is the very person we least expect.

So let us be a community that notices.

Let us ask, “Are you doing alright?” — and mean it.

Let us listen without judgment, offer kindness without conditions, and remind those who are struggling that asking for help is not a weakness. It is an act of courage.

And let us remember that we need not have all the answers. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is stay beside someone and help them find someone who does.

The Crier therefore proclaims this day a reminder to look after one another, to speak openly about mental health, to replace stigma with compassion, and to make sure our neighbors know:
