There is a reason I ask that messages come to this page and not my personal Facebook account.

I opened my messages for a couple people because I like to assume genuine intent. And now I am receiving inappropriate photos and links from those people after they were asking me about ducks.

Today reinforced my mind on not letting my chickens hatch anything.

Last year, Eleanor went broody. She was committed so we thought "you know what? Let's let her hatch some" and she proceeded to hoard eggs to hatch and then kick them out of the nest to freeze.

This year, one of our Buff Orpingtons went broody. We figured "she's never done this. Let's see" and she hatched an egg.

She was doing well for all of half a day before she kicked it out. Found the poor friend in the cold rain half froze to death.

We got the child out. Panic shoved it in my shirt and went back to work for the rest of my day. It has warmed up and is a normal duckling now.

When you have imprinted ducklings, you're basically just a big jungle gym.
