Patricks' Pastures is going to be doing more alpaca habitat like we used to. We will be rehoming alpacas and llamas to Texas and will handle the transport.

Almost 6 tree and grass covered acres and 3 ponds with a BNB where people come to see and love these animals.

We have 16 years of camelid experience and own this site. Dee and Allison do a great job managing it.

We can also broker, we get calls weekly.

Please call Jim if we can help. 214 505 0754.

Good day UAFF members worldwide...

Many years ago myself, Steve Hall and Jan Davis established UAFF ....United Alpaca Family Farms groups on Yahoo and later expanded to Facebook and LinkedIn.

We did this to provide a positive forum to discuss things that matter to alpaca owners and potential owners and it grew fast.

People like Allison Moss, Dee Garrett and many others including Dr Ruthanne and Chuck jumped in to help along the way and we cannot thank them enough for bring information and class to this industry. We are still found on Facebook, although I am pretty much inactive, but still operate Patrick's Pastures.

Yahoo has informed us that Yahoo groups is soon going to become part of the dearly departed. So it goes, it is all a part of evolution of passing of people, places and things.

We are grateful to all of the Uaff Yahoo group subscribers who worked hard to provide a posivite place to enjoy our joy of alpacas.

Good memories to all and a hearty thank you...

Everybody doing okay on the site, please say hello

Dear UAFF Members,

I want to let each of you know that we have offered to AOA, all of the UAFF Yahoo and Facebook sites as a gift. I feel that a fair voice as to the direction and management of the US alpaca market needs to be heard. AOA has the ability to deliver to alpaca owners the real facts for the unity of alpaca family farms where the results will be a win for all alpaca owners. AOA does have some growing to do for sure and I do not necessarily agree with everything they do; but who does? A strong industry trade association is the fastest way to start anew a stronger alpaca market in the US once again.
Both Steve Hull and I are now into our 60s and it is time to pass the torch to the next generation of alpaca owners.
Should AOA not wish to accept our offer, we will then ask if there are any interested parties to maintain the UAFF tradition of courtesy, respect and honesty. The sites will not be sold, but given away to qualified individuals to continue the vales of UAFF.
It has been our honor to be a part of your alpaca lives over the last few years. We tried the best we could and believe we represented a fair and unbiased alpaca industry.
Thanks

Jim Patrick - Managing Owner of UAFF

Our commitment to the alpaca industry
As a restatement of UAFF policy, we remain an open community that welcomes majority or minority opinions. We continue to embrace respect for all alpaca owners, not just those that might agree with us. We support AOA as the only legit representative organization of the alpaca industry and openly support the AOA show system and registry.

We are not concerned about being the largest blog for the alpaca industry, but instead believe we need to be the best blog where our members can proudly post the name of their business, their animals’ names and their successes without criticism or controls.

We remain committed to providing alpaca owners and interested parties a place to ask for help, post opinion and discuss alpacas and issues.

UAFF does not have an agenda to promote, nor will we ever have an agenda of anything other than the aforementioned. We sell nothing, have no shows and do not act as an association.

Our doors remain open without censorship, finger pointing or personal bias. Join us, leave us, your choice as it has always been. UAFF has no banned members or anyone on moderate. So, please embrace UAFF and enjoy the forum. Thank you for being a member.

The UAFF family of sites has rules that are very non-restrictive. Why? Because there are enough obstacles in life today and you don’t need more.

Here are a few questions members have asked:

1. Does UAFF allow advertising and promotion?
Of course we allow for promotion of breeding’s, transportations, training and seminars, shows, and events. Our Facebook sites are wide open…if you have something to sell that can be used by an alpaca, llama or yourself in caring for the aforementioned, go for it. Our Yahoo Alpaca Market site, the oldest of its type in the industry, also allows the same.
a. Can we promote fleece, finished products etc?
ABSOLUTELY – why would we want to limit you? We are here to help your alpaca business and not limit it or control; it because someone gets upset that you are conducting business. Go for it?

2. May we forward (to the list) private e-mails, posts from other forums without email permission from the author and the Alpacasite moderators?
Sorry, but no. You may paraphrase the situation without including the name of the poster or forum and ask for input or opinion.

3. May I post the names of animals and their genetic history?
If you are proud of your animal, then sure as hell you should mention them. Anyone out there selling so many animals within the alpaca community that they are about to run out? Didn’t think so...make your alpaca assets visible. Anyone that doesn’t like this can go to one of the more restricted sites.

4. What’s the big deal about courtesy and respect for all?
Not a big deal, just good common sense amongst intelligent adults. It the Golden Rule folks; plain and simple. If you wouldn’t like it said to you, don’t say it to someone else. Poor manners reflect poorly on our whole community. Please think before inserting your foot in your mouth and they don’t taste very good anyway!
Enthusiasm and passion is encouraged but flames, lectures, insults, or English lessons will not be tolerated.

5. What do I have to put on the signature block and what is optional?
Mandatory: Your name, city and state.
Optional: Whatever else you want so long as it is tasteful and fits in less than 7 lines total. Again, keep it as you would want to see from someone else. We really do not need to be the signature police.

6. Is Yahoo now more difficult to use?
Not really, but the format has changes only. After you get used to it, it will be a piece of cake for you. Also, UAFF have multiple Facebook and LinkedIn sites?

7. Are there any costs for UAFF membership? Do I need to buy merchandise? When’s the UAFF shows going to be? Do we have to ‘like’ UAFF moderators or owners on Facebook?
There are never costs to be part of UAFF; we sell nothing!
We have lots of shows all over the USA; they are called AOA sanctioned shows. UAFF is not an association and never will be. We support AOA and respect the BOD and Executive Director and his team for what they do with a very limited budget. Will we allow debate of AOA policies etc? Yes, for certain, but not badmouthing of the BOD by names or paid staff. Nasty criticism and hate toward any person whether they are a member of UAFF or not are a bad thing and will not be allowed at any time. Please be kind to each other. Debate, disagree etc, but poor mouthing, spreading rumors and innuendo is not a pretty.

We really don’t care if you like us on Facebook or not. Why should you be required to anyway?

Please call or email me with your comments or suggestions.

We have recently been receiving many calls and private emails relative to the rules and policies of other sites. Each site brings a unique approach to serving the alpaca community and serves members how they feel is best. Pick the site that serves you the most comfortably. If it is UAFF, wonderful. If not, then we hope you will be happy and content with the other sites.

UAFF is delighted to help promote events for the Camelid community. Please, always include your farm / Ranch name, names of your animals, genetics; any damn thing you think will help promote your business.

Our agenda is only to provide you a place to exchange information, share successes and promote your business. After all, isn’t that why we have alpaca businesses? If you prefer Yahoo, please see the UAFF site, same rules. About 900 members on this site alone; all of whom signed themselves up…not bad when you consider that the active alpaca owners sum up to less than 3000 farms
