Thanksgiving Market! - https://mailchi.mp/d6a85e80f115/farmupdate-12389399
Story of our boys dynamic. Obed works through the pain and the other two step in for the rewards. Folks, it’s our final harvest week leading into the thanksgiving holidays. Our inventory is fresh, sweet, and abundant this year. For that we are thankful. We are also thankful for our patrons, both our Denton neighbors and our Charlotte farmers market loyalist whose support make this farm possible. Stand open now (Wed-Fri 11-6) and and !
Winter harvest windows tighten up this time of year and each field visit involves moving 100’ blankets on and off, but the sweet crunch that winter lettuce provides is hard to beat.
Try # 3. This dam has been a challenge to re-habitat with grasses and clovers after its initial formation last year. But when we discovered five round bales of 5 yr old hay in the woods, we decided to go all in and devote the day to giving this land a ton of organic residue to hold moisture and protect from freezing as the seedlings germinate. This late in the season we went with Rye, crimson clover (maybe too late) and some fescue (hopefully we will see some action in the spring). Tired of seeing bare soil 🤨
All set up for the morning! Come on out and enjoy this beautiful day!
Sneak peak at the produce at Seven Sisters Farm this week. FarmStand open until 6pm and and in the a.m. Still have a lot to do in prep for a nice market tomorrow, see you there!

💙Happiest of Birthdays💙
Never a dull moment with you at the helm 🤪
Heirloom pumpkins coming out of the field today!!! We will take a few beauties down to Charlotte in the a.m.
The bulk of our harvest will start next week and they will available at the farm-stand during normal stand hours (Wed-Friday from 11 am -6 pm). This year, we selected pumpkins that were dual purpose (edible and ornamental) so that folks could get the best out of their purchase. These heritage varieties were selected for their superior meat quality and shelf life. We hope this will enrich your diet this fall!

Today we are playing farm catch up and tackling weeds. And, of course, morning harvesting for the farm stand. Many plots doing well and some not so, but this lettuce is awesome and ready to go.
Of all the vegetables in our hoop houses, this little nest of eastern cottontail rabbits took the prize! #babyrabbits #lifeonthefarm
After short dealings, We settled on $3 each for a buckets worth. My knees are thanking them gratefully.
Who else loves cherry tomatoes as much as we do? We like them better when they intercrop with our early season salad greens! #leanfarming #greenhouse #localfood
Still in winter-reflection mode, but must prepare for spring and summer. We have buried down on farm renovations this winter to streamline our processes and cut unnecessary cost…(more pictures of these improvements soon). For now, we just want to say “our greenhouses and high tunnels are at their most productive state to date and it won’t be long until our hill-top fields will be bursting with fruits, roots, leaves, stalks, sprouts, flowers and bees. #farmstands #farmersmarket @uptownfarmersmarket @southendmarketclt @flourshopclt
Good morning farm. Time to get these beds ready for our first markets in April. Alongside asparagus, we like to grow spinaches, arugulas, lettuces, carrots and beets in these high tunnels to have ready for market. @uptownfarmersmarket @southendmarketclt #compost #farmlife
Heating a greenhouse that is at half capacity essentially doubles your heat bill per plant. To address this, seal off all the unused real estate in your greenhouse. Make sure your ventilation fan still services your enclosure and don’t spend too much energy on permanent aesthetics. In a couple of weeks, more trays will occupy the remaining shelves and the enclosures will come down. #leanfarming #plantsale
Nice load of November produce hitting the markets this morning. Find us @uptownfarmersmarket and @southendmarketclt this morning! #localfood #familyfarms #healthylifestyle
Wheel bugs hard at work this morning. We have watched them two destroy squash bugs before our very eyes.
Lots to offer at the farm-stand today including some new NC apples and the last of the peaches. Lots of tomatoes by the box, corn, cucumbers, lettuce and more. Open Friday until 6!
The fun never stops. Prepping ground and planting seeds for fall before the forecasted rains next week. At least it cooled down, ready for a restful Saturday night! #augustfarming #familyfarming #farmboys #collards #kale #cabbage #broccoli #lettuce
Sweet is corn is coming in by the bushel and we are offering a bushel price: 4 dozen ears for $20.00. Avalon (a white kernel Ed corn ) this week. Serendipity (a wonderful bi-color) will be next week. Watermelons, cantaloupes and heirloom tomatoes are at peak season! We should have canning tomatoes by the box next week! This is a great couple weeks to snatch up the summer treats we dream about all spring. Produce is all about striking while the iron is hot!
