Announcing February’s Menu!
As someone who grew up Black in the South, Black history and southern comfort hold my personal history when it comes to cooking.
From greens and sweet potatoes to sweet tea and black eyed peas, so many of my favorite things to eat and make come from this.
As I grew older and moved away from the South, I became more curious about these ingredients and dishes and the significance and stories they held.
As I learned more, I became inspired by the history of making gold out of scraps and leftovers and the things that are sometimes seen as “inedible.”
This is what inspired me to make spices.
So this month, I’m leading with my history.
I’ll be highlighting Black History Month, sharing sugars, salts, and seasoning blends inspired by my southern roots, and paying tribute to the ways Black History built this comforting cuisine.
