Talulah, or as we call her, Mama, is an unregistered highland cow bred to AHCA-registered bull, Trafalgar Jake, for a fall 2026 calf.

She is sweet, friendly, and genuinely enjoys people. She loves a good treat and loves being brushed. She’s easy to handle and walks on a halter.

And she isn’t just a pretty pasture pet. She’s a proven, productive cow. She’s an easy keeper, consistently raises a good-sized calf, and breeds right back every year. Her maternal instincts are exceptional. She has even adopted an orphaned calf and raised both the orphaned calf and her own at the same time.

Basically, she’s the cow you’ll look forward to seeing every day.

Including alfalfa in a grazing stand makes sense. However, fear of bloat often causes hesitation when choosing to seed alfalfa for grazing purposes.

⏰ Yes, there are circumstances when turning cattle into a lush stand of alfalfa at the wrong time and perhaps with the wrong class of cattle, can result in bloat. But paying attention to a few production and management principles can greatly reduce the risk and provide Canadian beef producers opportunities to capture the benefits.
