Meatballs with...salsa?? 🤔
Sometimes making the swap over to flame roasted green chile salsa is the right move. Like these amazing meatballs simmered in our Southwest Style Salsa 🔥
-----------
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
Two 15-ounce jars 505 Southwest Style Medium Salsa, divided
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
1 large egg, lightly beaten
½ cup finely crumbled cotija cheese, plus extra for serving
½ cup fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped, plus extra for serving
Avocado oil or neutral oil of your choice
Instructions:
1. Place the beef in a medium bowl along with 6 ounces of the 505 Southwest Style Medium Salsa, panko, egg, cojtija cheese, and cilantro. Gently mix with your hands until all the ingredients are combined.
2. With damp hands, roll the meatballs into 10 balls.
3. Preheat a large sauté pan or high-sided skillet over medium heat. When hot add just enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the meatballs to the pan, leaving a little bit of space between each one. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until the meatballs are deeply browned on the undersides. Turn the meatballs and continue to brown on at least two more sides.
4. Pour the remaining salsa over the meatballs. Adjust the heat so that the salsa is gently simmering and cook for 30 minutes.
5. Serve the meatballs warm garnished with additional chopped cilantro and cotija cheese.
