Lots to offer at tomorrow’s Farmers Market now being held at Lytle Park! This is the last week for scapes from our booth and we are running a special- buy two bundles of scapes and the herbs for Chimichurri or Pesto are free. Plenty of plants left, some art/craft items, some garlic herb butter and two special baked items! Billy will be taking custom birdhouse orders and has a lot of special plates to choose from. Probably the most exciting bit is that Ivey is making her first appearance of the season! She’s pretty excited to see all of you. Come see what she’s been up to from 8am until noon!

I’m sure you all are tired of listening to me go on about scapes buuuttt….. check out this amazing version of chimichurri sauce we created this weekend! We used loads of garlic scapes, marjoram, oregano, olive oil, lemon juice, and red wine vinegar. Most recipes call for red pepper flakes but we used our spicy pepper blend from last year. We marinated some steaks with it but it was also pretty good on pita chips!

Let’s take a minute to talk garlic scapes! There will be ALOT of scapes at market tomorrow from more than one vendor. If past years are any indication, that seems to give the impression that scapes are easy to come by. Then they are gone and we have several disappointed customers. Our advice is to get them as soon as they are available. You don’t have to get them eaten right away! They will keep in your fridge for several weeks and can be processed in a food processor and frozen. Do you hate those winter months when your meals need something fresh from the garden? Your frozen scapes are the solution to that problem! Not sure what to do with the scapes? They make THE BEST pesto and add a nice kick to potato or chicken salad. They are also excellent pizza or flatbread toppings. Come see us at the Lanier Lawn tomorrow morning from 8am until noon and pick yours up! We will also have several flavors of butter, flower and herb starts, Cheddar and Chive English Muffins, Scape and Marjoram Focaccia, new paintings by Jenny and new birdhouses by Billy!

The following flower starts will be available at our booth at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. King Size Salmon Strawflower, Giant Cactus Zinnia, Giant Orange Amaranth, Illumination Zinnia, Ivory Princess Calendula, Watercolor Dahlia, Kilimanjaro White Marigold, and Paper Moon Scabiosa. These are not our pictures as our starts are not blooming just yet. See you all on Saturday!
