Week 1 CSA featuring

We're finally back for 2026! This years CSA feels special because we've got not one, not two, but 3 new items for our first week. Green garlic is the perfect May allium for cooking, while we had an excellent crop of spring beets in the high tunnel, the first time growing beets inside!

And look at those pink oyster and lions mane mushrooms from Oak Haven. Simply stunning!

We still have a couple of CSA slots open if you're considering joining! Cheers to a great season.

Giving everyone a quick update on our market schedule for the next several weeks! Unfortunately, we are not going to be at the Ligonier Country Market this year. We've got an unusual May schedule as a result.

If you're one of our Saturday morning customers, never fear! We're opening our online store for on-farm pickup the next 3 weeks, so you can help us sell produce that we would normally have at the market. You can also become a CSA member and secure your produce all summer!

Link to our store is in our bio & in the comments below!

We let our chickens out the other night to their permanent home!

Using a mobile shelter and moveable electric net fence will allow us to keep a "pastured" flock that is nimble and adaptable. Check our story to read our new blog post about it!

Happy earth day!

For us, farming is about so much more than growing produce. Our natural soil, ecology, and biodiversity are the foundation of our farm operation. Without these processes and relationships, our farm would fail.

It's easy to think of the environment as something separate and detached from ourselves and our lives, but nothing could be farther from the truth. We are our environment, and our environment is us. This planet is the only one we have, let's take care of it!

Petition to make every day earth day?

Today we fought back against our relentless spring wind at the farm: we planted a windbreak!

Around 50 Norway spruce were planted on the SE corner of the garden, at a 6-foot, 2-row spacing. This planting should fill in quickly and provide a windbreak to most of the existing farm, especially in late winter and early spring when tender seedlings and row cover need the peace.

Planting trees always feels so hopeful. A tiny twig now, but in many years hopefully a beautiful and functional aspect of the farm. Here's to hope!

Big farm update: we're starting our very first flock of chickens!

Our goal is to maintain a relatively small, pastured flock primarily to share eggs with our community and our CSA. These chicks will grow up to live in our little mobile A-frame (built this winter), and rotated on parts of the farm.

No eggs for sale yet, and we don't expect much production until late this summer, but we're very excited for another adventure in caring for our land, and feeding ourselves and our community!

Transplanted 3 of our onion varieties today, and they’re looking strong! These began as seedlings in our seed blocks and spent plenty of time in the nursery before they went out to the field.

You can learn all about our approach to growing onions in the latest farm blog post! Link in the comments below!

Some late March farm highlights! Spinach, lettuce, romaine, carrots, and green onions are starting to take off in our high tunnels. Meanwhile our early lettuce and snap peas are outside under row covers!

Started our ginger yesterday in trays, so exciting!Nursery is completely packed right now, but hopefully next week we can transplant our onions and free up lots of space. After the cold coming in this weekend it's looking positively hot!

Speaking of hot, we always love to get our compost piles to have the right mix of ingredients to get the microbes generating real heat. Our homemade compost reserve is higher than it's ever been, and should be providing real benefits to our plants over the next several months.
