We had our best honey haul ever this year. Ed is making the best of it, working while surrounded by golden goodness.

Every so often, Kathy Byrnes Fallon gets brave and shares a bit of DRAFT (yes, there are typos) writing from the in-progress historical-fiction she’s working on. Lots of talk about Iowa farm folks and food in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, she’s working at The Slow Down Coffee Co., where the staff really care about supporting local food production and food producers.

The fall planting of edamame, in buckets previously used for potatoes, is taking off great! If you’re in the habit of taking your garden out at the end of the summer, rethink that for next year. Our good earth offers so much more!

Kathy here. We’re so lucky, in Des Moines, to have so many great spots to sit, sip, and work a bit. Working on White Handkerchiefs and Red Apples again this morning. My sister Sue and I have refocused on one central story, instead of weaving three perspectives into one historical-fiction. This means our chances of having a complete draft version by the end of the year is good!
