A few weeks ago, Ian and I attended a working equitation clinic with, and we focused on some basic dressage principles and body control. It was such a fun learning experience incorporating those principles into our rides, and it pushed both me and Ian into a new realm of goals. As someone who has ridden saddle seat and Rockies their entire life, I have thoroughly enjoyed expanding my riding education and learning new schools of thought to training.

While my favorite part of the clinic was riding, Ian’s was having the opportunity to look at himself in the mirror.

Ian and all of his fans at the Midwest Horse Fair 2 weekends ago. In a few weeks he will be headed to Sliver Ranch in Northeastern Iowa for the breeding season. Get your mares booked ASAP. Remember, his stud fee this year already includes both collection AND shipping fees!

Today's Stallion Avenue spotlight is on RHF Rebellion presented by Taryn O'Brien in Des Moines, Iowa.

RHF Rebellion is a 10-year-old Rocky Mountain Stallion registered and certified with the Rocky Mountain Horse Association. “Ian”, as he is known in the barn, represents the epitome of what this rare breed has to offer. He has a huge puppy-dog personality, and he is always mistaken for a gelding given his calm and loving demeanor.

His gait is smooth as silk and will hold at both slow and fast paces. Ian is surefooted and successfully navigates rocky terrains and obstacles commonly encountered on the trails.
Ian is by world grand champion Chocolate Venture and is out of Chocka Bell. This cross has produced numerous champions, and we hope Ian will follow in their ‘hoof-steps’ when he is introduced to the show ring later this year.

On top of his incredible, gait, personality, and bloodline, Ian has a unique eye-catching coloration. He is EE/Ag-n/Z-n, and we suspect that he has a sooty dilution as well. It has been awhile since y’all have heard from us- I began medical school this Fall and have been busy getting the barn ready and fence put in at our new home. Ian has finally come home, so there will hopefully be more updates now that I only need to walk a few yards out of the house to see him.

With these changes, there is a strong possibility that I will be offering Live-cover this year. Be on the lookout for 2024 breeding Information within the next month, but feel free to reach out if you want to get a head start on getting your breeding booked.

Ian being the quintessential Rocky at the Midwest Horse Fair! He hasn’t been ridden in a little over 3 weeks due to travel and him being a bit sore (first spring day turnout… Need I say more? Haha). I was a little worried how he would behave as he hasn’t been anywhere since the Midwest horse fair last year… that concern was quite misplaced, as he was CALM, COOL, and COLLECTED. Come see us in Pavilion 1, stalls 2018-2019, and find out how to add some Rocky Mountain level-headedness to your herd!

It is time to start planning your Spring breeding pairings!
RHF Rebellion will be standing stud in central Iowa, offering AI and possible pasture live cover if there is enough interest. “Ian” is a registered and certified Rocky Mountain Stallion who possesses the quintessential traits of the breed such as a sturdy build, silky smooth gait, calmness, and sure-footedness. Ian is a full brother to numerous champions such as RHF Bellaventure, RHF Belladonna, and RHF Hells Bells. He is a red chocolate with the following allele breakdown: heterozygous silver Zz, homozygous black EE, and heterozygous agouti Ag/n. Given his seal pointing (light nose, belly, and etc. We suspect he may also have a sooty or seal dilution at play).
Stud fee for this year will be $600 LFG, but any breedings booked before March 1st will have a discounted stud fee of $500 LFG.

Don’t have your own mare to breed? No worries! We are offering a foal reservation pairing of Ian and our bay mare, RHF Madiera. Pm for more details on this cross.

Some more shots from the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison last weekend!
Guess which picture was the one where Ian made it known he was done with pictures?

Also: can we take a minute to appreciate the fact that we had two stallions riding side by side (RHF Rebellion and R Squared Special Reserve) throughout our demos. Not to mention that there was a mare in the full swing of her cycle in the ring with us! You just can’t beat the personality of a Rocky. I couldn’t help but chuckle each time I heard someone in the audience realize that they were both studs!

RHF Rebellion enjoying the beautiful weather this week at a friend’s place in Eastern IA. He is so excited and attentive when out on the trails.
