Greetings!
I hope this finds you all well, and enjoying our break from our heat wave!
It's that time of year again, and our bees have been very busy from April - July, and have done us proud again this year. We have beelicious honey available, with several different varietals from four locations around the central Iowa locality. We put our bees on a new beeyard this year north of Runnells, about 4.5 miles from our other Runnells location. It's a great location - our friend and land-owner is an organic farmer, and there is a massive grove of Black Locust trees about 1/2 mile from her property. Our busy bees worked hard to allow us to extract great acacia honey!
You, our customer, have trusted us to provide products from the hive for your family and friends, and we value that trust. Our mission is to provide a quality product at a reasonable price. The beekeeping industry continues to experience price increases – equipment, supplies, and the cost of gas to name a few. We have reluctantly updated the prices on our honey products to assist in covering the maintenance of healthy bee colonies and the production of quality honey products.
We believe that you will continue to find our prices competitive in the market, with quality at the forefront of everything we do. We are one of few Iowa companies to offer varietal honey, and we do so to provide you a great experience! We do have a price differentiation this year on the Black Locust honey. We believe you will continue to find us very competitive on our Black Locust/Acacia honey prices, and one of the few, if not the only, Acacia honey producers in Iowa.
2022 VARIETALS
1. Des Moines Wildflower
Our most robust wildflower honey, and many folks' favorite honey!
2. Des Moines Linden/Basswood
It's back - the bees didn't collect Linden honey last year, but we have it back in our inventory! It is a distinct honey, with a minty taste.
3. Runnells Black Locust
Very mild, with that lovely hint of vanilla. Probably not pure Black Locust nectar, but primarily Black Locust influence.
4. Runnells Wildflower
Fairly mild, with a hint of clover honey– just a lovely wildflower nectar.
5. Runnells Wildflower with a Linden influence
A nice blend - a wildflower with a Linden finish. For folks that love Linden honey, you will enjoy this honey!
6. Indianola Black Locust
Very mild, with that lovely hint of vanilla. It has always been very popular, so quantity will become limited.
7. Indianola Wildflower
Fairly mild, and very sweet – just a lovely wildflower nectar! Some of the smoothest honey we have ever extracted. .
2022 HONEYCOMB
We have 2022 honey comb available – currently, we have harvested honey comb in Ross Round containers. The bees prepare the comb and honey right in the round container – when we harvest, we just place a lid on the top! The honey comb is available in 8+, 9+ and 10+ ounce sizes.
All honey comb is frozen once pulled from the hive for maximum freshness; for the Ross Round, we need 4 hours to get the containers thawed and labeled.
COME FOR A TASTE TEST!
We offer a taste test on our front porch! I will send out a communication when we are ready to start taste-testing - we are still busy extracting, but I am believing within the next two weeks we could be ready!
