What a great weekend in Ottumwa for King of the Corn. Our results were terrible but that's mostly ok, we had a fantastic weekend. At this point I'm starting to wonder if positive results are ever going to be in the cards but even without them we find a way to have a great time.
Ted spent the whole weekend attempting to shig Harlyn, Mackenzie with an absolutely perfect shirt and Janice SmellaQue with expert timing making me absolutely lose it while we were taking a picture.
At this point I'm not sure what competition bbq looks like for us next year but somehow, some way I'll find a way to stay involved because even though I'm not any good, I absolutely live for the
Congrats to Meat Me In St. Louis Competition BBQ Team for their dominant GC and Bramble Barbeque for the close RGC. Jake has been on the rise for a while, I'm very happy to see him hit a great result before moving up to 4 meats next season.

We're off running in in La Belle, MO for the Show Me BBQ Showdown. Big thanks to Smokin Brothers, Inc. Gateway Drum Smokers and 1 Bite Stand for bringing drums for me to borrow so I didn't have to bring mine over from the Royal. Hopefully Brad left a little magic in his drum after his monster GC last week. Good luck to everyone cooking here in La Belle and today's Invitational and sides contests at the Royal. We had a great time in Excelsior Springs this weekend for BBQ & Fly In on the River. I thought we had a pretty solid cook but it doesn't always pan out that way. A 10th place Compart Family Farms rib powered the way to a 33rd place finish out of 83 great teams. Big congrats to Triple H BBQ for GC and BBQ Maestros for RGC and punching their tickets to Vegas.
For us we now take a few weeks off before heading to one of my favorites in Brandon, SD for the SD BBQ Shootout at Huset's Speedway.

The Kansas City Barbeque Society special election for 1 board seat begins Monday. I have been nominated to run again and could really use not just your help, but the help of any KCBS members that you know. The voting booth opens Monday August 10th, check your email that day to receive the link.

There will be a Meet the Candidates meeting for all KCBS members on Wednesday August 12th at 6:30pm Central.
