PiriPiri is HERE!

We have just received two pallets of Le Diablotin brand Piri Piri sauce from Portugal. This could be the lone hot sauce made in continental Europe, and it is well loved in Portugal by people who use it as a spicy and flavorful ingredient or as a topping all on its own for chicken, pork, seafood and egg dishes.

It currently is available on a limited basis at select grocery stores in the Des Moines area. We'll be making a sales trip next week, though, so expect to soon see wider distribution.

Le Diablotin (little devil) piri piri sauce is a product of Mendez Goncalves, a well-known food manufacturer based in Golega, Portugal. The peppers - bird's eye - are grown in Mozambique and have a zesty yet not overpowering amount of heat to them.

We'd like to thank the people at SISAB Lisbon for making this match possible. Their annual food and wine show in Lisbon is a great showcase for the many fine products that come from Portugal.

In yet another recognition of the quality you can pour out of a bottle of Arbekia Shake & Taste, a silver star has been awarded it in the 2016 competition of the New York International Olive Oil Competition. Quite simply, NYIOOC is the standard bearer when it comes to assessing fine olive oils from across the globe. This comes on the heels of Arbekia grabbing a Great Taste award from England's Guild of Fine Food.

We have added new retail outlets in Des Moines area. Arbekia Shake & Taste is now available at Fareway stores at 86th and Meredith Drive, in Urbandale, and Fourth and Ashworth, in West Des Moines. Also, Price Choppers on Ingersoll and on Merle Hay Road, in Des Moines, and on 86th Street in Johnston.

There's a new face representing Arbekia in Kansas and Missouri. Dawn Gilroy is the new product demonstrator, and will be calling on area Hy Vee stores that carry this, plus a few other retailers to arrange for them to stock it on their shelves.
Dawn, who lives in Gardner, Kans., has years of experience as a brand ambassador, in retail stores in the greater Kansas City area.
She has already hosted tastings at two Hy Vees in Olathe.
