Berkwood Farms, based in Des Moines, Iowa, is a small pork company owned by a coalition of 80+ independent family farmers from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. We are one of the largest American suppliers of 100% pure heirloom Berkshire pork, and the only farmer-owned company with national distribution. Berkwood Farms’ producers raise their animals in a healthy, environm

entally friendly manner. They have each committed to a strict code of responsible and humane animal husbandry. Their farming practices include: 100% vegetarian diets with no rendered animal by-products, no anti-biotics or growth hormones, and ample room to roam. At Berkwood Farms, the quality and taste of our pork is unmatched anywhere else. In a nationwide study conducted by the National Pork Board, Berkshire pork won top honors in 19 out of 20 categories including: loin color, tenderness, marbling, moisture content, and taste. Additionally, in a two year study conducted by Iowa State University, Berkwood Farms Berkshire pork was found to have higher pH levels and lower acidity than commodity pork. This translates to a more tender, juicy, and flavorful product. We offer a complete line of fresh cut and retail products that we would love to have represented in your stores. All of our products are processed in Des Moines, cut fresh weekly based on customer demand, and hand-inspected for quality assurance. Additionally, all of our products are all natural and free from gluten, MSGs, artificial ingredients, and preservatives.
